Issue 1 Downtime

Sometime after everything was all set up back at the campground, Haley figured she'd wander down to the lake and see what the fuss was all about. She'd mentioned to the brunette chick and the hot guy that she was going to wander down, and promised not to drown.

The lake and small beach that the campground had made were deserted, and the water looked pretty inviting, so Haley peeled off her tank top and dropped it, her shorts, and her gym shoes into a pile on top of her beach towel, and walked into the calm waters of the lake, splashing around a bit and finally just floating on her back and relaxing.

Christie's search for wood had brought her down to the lake, and she walked along, carrying an impressive bundle of fallen branches.

Haley slightly turned her head to see who approached while she lazed in the water and her mood soured instantly.

Coming on this trip was a huge fucking mistake...

'Hey." Christie said awkwardly

Meanwhile Brigid, not feeling much need for the beach, was further down the shore in her bathing suit, wading in.

If she'd noticed the other two, she made no indication.

"Hey," Haley said simply, barely acknowledging Christie, as her attention was focused on cave girl getting into the lake a scowl forming quickly on her face.

"I think a swim sounds awesome." Christie said, setting down the wood, and heading towards the water.

"Yep. Water's nice." she said almost monosyllabically.

Christie stripped off her suit to reveal a bikini underneath, and jumped into the water. "Woo! Nice and cool." she said, grinning as she surfaced.

Brigid cast a sideways glance to Christie at the splash, and quirked an eyebrow at the mark on her neck, before dipping below the surface herself to wet down her hair.

Haley grumbled as the lake got more crowded.

"Excuse me?" Christie asked, catching the mindspoken insult.

"What?" Haley asked.

"Who did you just call a bitch?"

"The fuck are you talking about? I didn't say anything."

"I heard you, but hey, whatever."

"Just ignore her, Christie. She's not worth it." Brigid offered, perhaps unhelpfully.

"Yeah, good idea."

"I didn't say a god damn thing, but I guess I should have, you fucking hobags." Haley hissed, heading for the shore. "Why don't you both get the fuck out of my sight? Don't you both have something better to be doing anyway? I mean, god knows what Alex is going to do when his girlfriend AND his fuck buddy are otherwise occupied."

"...what the hell are you even talking about?"

"Shut.The.Fuck.UP." Christie said.

Haley turned, knee deep in the water and smirked, looking between the two. "Or what? Will you headbutt me too?"

"Look Haley, I don't know what little attention-getting stunt you're pulling here, but I'm in way too much trouble to fall for your crap again."

"Maybe you'd be in less trouble if you spent less time slamming your head into other people's heads, genius."

"Why don't you buzz off, little girl."

"Make me, thunder thighs. Nice hickey. You get into a fight with a vacuum cleaner, or does Alex still like to spend the night in your room?"

"What is with this obsession you have with Alex?"

"She's got a crush on him. And at least I have hips. And boobs."

"And you don't? Or do you just like to fool around with him in your room late at night, no strings attached?"

"That is none of your fucking business."

"Might be hers," she smirked, flipping her head in Brigid's direction.

"Wait, what? Alex and Christie are just friends. This is pretty pathetic, Haley."

"Are they now? Notice she didn't deny it though. Not a 'that would never happen,' in sight, just a 'none of your fucking business..." Haley remarked thoughtfully.

"Never going to happen." Christie said "Happy, bitch?"

"Nothing short of you stepping into a nest of snapping turtles would make me happy right now. Hickey still seems pretty fresh though. Haven't seen anyone else hanging around you besides Alex...I mean, unless you're into your roommates or just like putting cleaning appliances on your neck or something."

"What, are you stalking her?"

"Yeah, its kind of creepy."

"Not exactly subtle when a dude comes out of your room in the middle of the night, but whatever. Fuck you both, I'm out. Stay the fuck away from me or I'll teach you new meanings of fucking pain." Haley scowled, tired of the entire conversation. She stomped through the shallows towards the shore and took out her aggressions on a dead tree leaning over the water, splintering it in the middle and sending it crashing into the lake.

"Whelp, that takes care of the firewood problem." Christie said, catching the portion of the tree that had almost fallen on them.

"You realize you just lost all rights to call me a psycho?" She yelled after Haley.
