There was a time when Jean's face heralded the snuffing out of stars, the darkening of galaxies.

There was a time when her marriage was tested nearly to breaking by the desires of an old enemy.

There was a time when those around her feared the flames still burned behind her eyes.

Those times are thankfully long past. Her relationship with Scott Summers has been mended, and though she has led a life a bit less glamorous, it has perhaps been a better one, of healing and reconciliation. She still works for the interests of X-Corporation, but hasn't put on a costume in over a decade now. It's easy to see by the laugh-lines about her mouth that perhaps she's happier this way.
