Name: David 'Tempest' Hollifield

Power: David has the power to control wind and precipitation. He can create gusts up 120mph, but only for short duration and over a small area. Over a large area, the size of a small city, he can affect the wind as a whole, but it can take him time to really change the weather. He can make it warmer or colder over the same area he can affect wind, again, the bigger the change and the larger the area, the more time it takes him. Finally, he can increase or decrease humidity and precipitation, with the same restrictions as before. Unlike Storm, he cannot create lightning, but he does have fairly fine-tune control over his ability to chill or heat areas, and he can create small amounts of precipitation.

When David is using his power, he becomes difficult to contact or attack psychically. However, this is simply because his thoughts change the way they are presented in his psyche. They change the same way every time, so a psychic who has once figured out how to contact or attack David when he's using his power will always be able to do so.


Personality: David is a pretty friendly person, but stereotypically, he has a bit of a temper. He likes using his power, and is proud of being a mutant, but isn't a supremacist. Not that he has much choice but to be proud, as he can hardly disguise his skin tone.


Description: David's skin is blue-tinged, which makes for interesting colorations when he tans, as he gets sort of purple. When using his power, the color deepens a little but he retains some 'normal' skin tone. He usually wears pretty scruffy, low class clothing, tending toward leather jackets, jeans, and t-shirts with bands on them. David has blue hair with purple highlights in it, as another natural part of his mutation.


Background: David grew on the coast of Oregon, and loved the fall and winter storms. When his mutation manifested, it was of little surprise to his parents or anyone who knew him, other than the fact that he was a mutant at all. The community he lived in was pretty tolerant of strangeness among locals, and David's power was never really out of control in a dangerous way, his main struggle has been to use it at all.

High school then was not too big a problem for David, he was merely further on the fringe than he might have been otherwise. He experienced problems in some larger cities from time to time, but hasn't been the victim of any violent persecution.

David's parents are low income, his father fishes and his mother works in a tourist shop. He's been in trouble with the law a few times, nothing serious, vandalism, petty theft, and the like. He didn't expect to get into XLU, or have the money to go, but since the school offered to pay his way almost entirely, that was pretty much his only choice for college. His grades were alright, and his test scores were good, but without a full ride, he wasn't going anywhere as his parents had no plan to pay for school.
