Issue 10 Aftermath - Surveying The Damage

After the debriefing, Wanda wandered the grounds for a bit to clear her head and look at what was going on. They'd had to hunt down a larger sling for her and she was still getting used to not moving her arm. Every once in a while she'd forget and wince. She followed no particular path as she walked and she wasn't walking particularly fast.

Marcus was out and about, helping crews clean up whatever still needed to be. He was about double his size as he hoisted up a large piece of rubble, asking one of the crew members where to dispose of it. He knew back in High School, one of the things that helped made him forget the craziness was things at least looking like they were 'normal' again.

Wanda stopped and watched him move stuff around. "I didn't get the chance to say it earlier, but thanks for the boost during the fight."

He nodded as he tossed the rubble into one of the disposal containers. "No problem. It's kind of what I do. Besides, you and John were really up in Apocalypse's face."

"Yeah and it didn't really start hurting until after all was said and done. You should see the size of the painkiller I'm on."

"Hoping to be official this fall. I've been training all summer. Volunteered for this one because this places means a lot to a close friend."

"Well, you did pretty amazing out there so the training's definitely playing off. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised we all did so well..I mean..it's Apocalypse and all."

He smiled. "Close friend? You know someone who works or is going here now?"

"My friend Tala. She goes to the University, but her family lives here. Her mother's the Headmistress."

"Just one hell of an appetite as far as I can tell," Wanda said. "She talks to animals and does a little feral shifting on the side from what I've been able to tell."

"Haha. So buffet places would close their doors when they see you both coming?" Marcus glanced around, seeing that the crew had the rest of everything handled as he slowly began to shrink back down to his normal size.

"Ah. No surprise there. That's the whole family's thing right?"

Wanda went from looking up at him to looking down at him. "Yeah, I think so. I haven't met her little brother, but I assume that's what he does. All of them are a little different." It finally dawned on Wanda that she hadn't even gotten his name. "I'm Wanda by the way."

It was now that Marcus noticed just how tall Wanda was, obviously not paying much attention to it in the heat of the fight. "Must be pretty nice having an all mutant family huh? Never a point where they won't get what's going on with you." He smiled and lifted a hand out to her. "Pleasure meeting you Wanda. Name's Marcus."

"Pleasure to meet you. Yeah, kind of rare for people end up in an all-mutant family," Wanda said, shaking his hand.

"Far and away the tallest. And it's probably power related. Or at least that's the guess. I'm in excellent health, which is unusual for someone my size."

"That's really good to hear." He smiled. "I'd think you'd have some super durability along wit hit. So, just how strong are you anyway? When I saw you throwing rubble I thought, 'Yep. She's someone I should give a boost'."

"My max lift right now is rated in the rough neighborhood of 16,000 lbs. Or at least they said that was how much I was lifting when they tested me."

"I honestly think we'll be fine." He clasped his hands behind his head, even know and then having to pick the pace of his walking to keep up with Wanda. He chuckled.
