Issue 1 Downtime

After grabbing a drink from the coolers presided over by the scary blue-haired woman, Theresa waited a short ways away for Kay.

Who didn't take long to come running across the grass.

"You know, I didn't believe it but it does feel kinda neat to already know the place when everyone's all new and confused." she grins faintly.

"Sorta makes up for the summer boredom, huh?"

"Sorta. It WAS pretty fucking boring though," Haley said a she bounced over towards the two girls. "Hi Kay. Hi....I met you at Colin's thing... Or saw you at least..." she said struggling for Theresa's name.

"Theresa," she said, picking up on the struggle.

"Nice to really meet ya!" she grinned.

"Where's that cool...oh there it is. Let's see if the old powers will cooperate today. I've been practicin'..." Haley narrowed her eyes as she turned her focus to the cooler filled with water bottles. One floated uneasily out of the cooler and moved leisurely to Haley, but once it was in grabbing distance she got overly excited and the bottle got crushed in mid air--sending a bottle full of water splashing onto Haley.

"God damnit," she grumbled, "See what happens when ya try to show off?"

"Getting wet is usually what happens when I try to show off as well."

"I refuse comment." she snickers.

Haley giggled even before Kay did, the giggling only intensifying as she knew someone else picked up on it.

Which kinda shuts Kay up, thinking Haley is laughing at her. Though, she figures, it's kind of her own fault for making a joke at her own expense. The aspect Haley's laughing about never even occurred to her.

"Seriously? That's where you took that? Get your mind out of the gutter." Still, she was at least smirking a little.

"The gutter is so much fun though," she giggled. "All the cool kids hang out there."

Kay blinks while her mind catches up.

"Eww, Haley!"

Haley just giggled more at Kay's response.

"I think you're confused on who the cool kids are," Theresa said.

"All of us, right?" she grinned.

"I dunno if being cool is worth having to hang out in the gutter."

"An occasional trip to the gutter can be funny, but I wouldn't want to hang out there."

Stepping out onto the quad, Brigid smiled as she spotted Kay and Theresa, heading that way.

"Finally found you guys. I think one of my roommates has box-based superpowers."

"Brigid!" she shouts, waving at the girl as she walks over.

"What do you mean, box-based?"

"I'm not sure how else that many boxes can fit in a room. I think one of them just had pencils in it."

"Sounds like my bedroom."

"I think it is!" she adds, sounding excited.

"Oh, no way..." She laughed.

"I recognized Kay's stuff, but that's... that's pretty awesome."

"That is pretty awesome. It may take me a couple of days, but I promise I'll get rid of all the boxes."

"This is so cool!" she says, for a moment remembering how she would have dreaded rooming with Theresa after the party but that was ages ago.

"I packed pretty light, myself."

"Don't worry. You saw that she brought stuff for 5. At least." she snickers.

"I'm sure I'll have more stuff soon enough. Just you know, long trip."

"That's right, I promised to take you shopping, didn't I?"

"Holding you to that," she laughed.

"As soon as we get settled, we'll figure out how to get somewhere worth shopping at."

"Century 21 is nice." Kay pipes up. "Though it's... kinda in the city, not Salem..."

"Oh, you got a chance to go into the city?"

"Colin and his parents took me, yeah. I got to wear an image... thingamajig that made me look normal."

"That sounds cool."

"Oh yeah, I think the Headmistress here wears one sometimes."

"It was pretty neat, yeah! Though they wouldn't let me keep it..."

"Too easy to get into trouble with it, I guess."

Haley had been too entirely engrossed in a text conversation to even notice Brigid arriving.

"Oh. Hi! I'm Haley!" she grinned, waving at Brigid.
