"I want to be a superhero," Dana says, looking up at the sky.

"Why?" he asked, looking her way, and not too shocked by the statement.

"It is personal," Dana says, "I would rather not talk about it."

"Ok, fair enough. It's just.. Lots of people who come here want to do that. I just wonder why sometimes." he said, looking down at the ground.

Dana pauses and sits down on the ground. She takes off her sunglasses, even in the dim light Thomas can see her eyes are incredibly bloodshot.

"I am a dead end," Dana explains, "My abilities are slowly destroying my nervous system. I have a 50/50 chance of living to see 30. By 40, I will almost certainly be dead."

"I can not speak for others. But I want the world to remember me when I am gone."

tommy's jaw dropped at the revelation, not sure how to react.

"You're.. Dying? for real?"

"We are all dying, Mr. Bowen," Dana says, "I am just dying a little faster then some people."

He was shocked.

"I.. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to draw down your dream.. i guess I figured everyone had time to decide what they wanted to do, and it never occurred to me.."

"You do not have to apologize," Dana says, "I do not require people to understand me. It is an impossibility. I am much smarter then most people."

Tommy blushed a little, embarrassed at having fallen for the joke.

"I probably wouldn't be a very good sidekick, anyways."

without warning, Tommy leaned in, giving Dana a kiss on the cheek.

Dana paused a moment before turning her head and giving Tommy a kiss on the lips.

After several long moments, Tommy pulls back, the hat falling a little towards his eyes, with a little blush.

"I figured, waiting might not be a good option.." he said, taking a breath.

"Are you staying here over the summer?"

Dana shakes her head, "I will be here at the start of next term though."

"I sure don't want to wait that long. I live pretty close, just a couple hours away."

"I live in Iowa," Dana says, "I may be able to convince my parents to allow me to stay here though."
