Brigid cautiously knocked, hoping she got Alex and not one of his roommates.

They were, after all, reportedly awful.

Not hearing an answer, she turned her back to the door and leaned against it, sliding down into a sitting position with a sigh.

"Well, great." She muttered. "Everybody's... yeah, and I'm the girl who's never had friends before."

She rolled over onto her side before sitting back up.

Alex shrugged noncommitally to that, reaching down to offer her a hand up. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just figured I'd get going on my packing so I'm ready in the morning."

She took the hand up with a smile.

"I think I learned tonight that stupid teen movies have not prepared me at all for this stuff."

"Because seriously, I don't know what the hell happened."

"I think she coughed. And apparently when she coughs while she's drinking, stuff doesn't come out her nose, it comes out her gills. Which hurts," he said. He thought about it a minute. "And she'll probably think I'm an asshole for passing that on, but she already thinks I'm an asshole, so oh well." He walked back in the room, nodding his head to indicate for her to come on in.

"Yeah, that part I kind of got. The bit where everyone got pissed and left after that is where I was totally out of my depth." She walked in after him, letting out a breath.

"So I guess I figured you're at least someone that knows I'm frigging clueless at this, yeah? I already feel like a dork around you, so I'm not going to make it worse," she said with a faint smile.

Alex smirked a little. "Well, you don't come off like a dork, so relax." He shrugged. "I don't know. I'm just trying to be nice, right? And that keeps pissing her off, which is confusing the hell out of me. And then that other kid comes in like a smarmy douchebag and she's all 'oh, yes, please help me!'" He shrugged. "Kind of turns it into a big 'why am I bothering' situation, you know? Got no idea what anyone else's deal was, though."

Well, she didn't hit him... He shrugged. "I don't know. You're not the only one feeling completely out of their depth." He smirked a little. "What do teen movies tell us we should be doing right now?" he asked, half-teasing.

Alex started trying to zip his bag (which appeared to be too full) again, then shrugged and gave up on it, walking over to the couch to flop over. "Well, if it makes her feel any better, Kay's more likely to punch him than anything," he mused without thinking.

"True," he admitted. "I don't know... I kind of feel like I messed up the whole weekend. I'm used to my old school where everyone's dressing the same, everyone's coming from the same kind of family, everyone's got the same sort of expectations on them..." He shrugged.
