Distracted she takes a large gulp of soda. And almost reflexively the soda doesn't go where it's supposed to. Instead Kay's eyes suddenly go wide and she spits out what of the soda isn't running out of her gills, coughing painfully as she tries to hold her hands over her neck. Ow ow ow, ohgodpleasenobodyhaveseenthat!

Alex blinked. And there... is something you don't see every day. Casually, he reached for a napkin and, hesitantly, like he was half expecting to get slapped (he was), he offered it to her. Don't see me staring don't see me- shit STOP staring, you great big jackass! With that thought, belatedly, he stopped looking, novelty of the situation or not.

She takes the napkin to at least try and dry her neck and clothes. Her pale skin is a bright crimson, either from the coughing or the embarrassment though it's probably both. Not that she needs to catch anyone staring to know that everyone is.

And Alex, brilliantly... grabbed more napkins. "Anything I can do to help?" he asked, trying to keep his voice down and stand between her and prying eyes in the rest of the room. Given that it was a big room and he was only one guy, this wasn't likely very effective.

Alex was caught between trying not to make a scene and being increasingly alarmed. "Maybe some water?" he suggested in a low voice, not sure himself how that would help but figuring any suggestion was better than nothing.

As Theresa was busy insisting she really didn't mind fetching Colin a drink, Brigid's eyes were roving those gathered. She smiled as she finally spotted Alex, then concern crossed her features with how his interaction with Kay ended. She made her way over to him.

"Er... everything okay?"

"A water nymph. Classical mythology, they were protectors of the water and it's creatures. Life givers and as nymphs believed to be the complete image of female perfection. Also potentially deadly if threatened or pissed off."

Theresa stood there for a moment, trying desperately not to look dumbfounded. Without another word, she tossed her plate in the trash along with what was left of her soda and left the room. After the door to the stairwell closed, those with sensitive hearing might pick up a brief rumbling noise that originated from somewhere higher on the stairwell.

Brigid let out a sigh as at this point all of her new friends had exited in different directions.

Deciding she could deal with Alex easier than a freak localized thunderstorm, she headed off towards the boys' rooms.

Haley was a bit overwhelmed by so many people in a small room talking, and thinking, and getting emotional. She sort of sank into a couch with her slice of pizza and shut her eyes tightly, until suddenly all was quiet again and a bunch of people had left. She thought she had heard Alex...but maybe not. An there was a good chance he hadnt even seen her with as short as she was.

"Well...that was interesting..." she said with a nonchalant shrug before taking another bite of her pizza.
