X-Men Apartment - Recruiting

[Kay Haddock]

Kay, only somewhat nervously, knocks on the door.

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria opened the door, then smiled when she saw Kay. The smell of something spicy-smelling came through the now-open door. "Well hello, darling. I was just getting ready to eat," she said, nodding for Kay to come in.

"Oh... sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your lunch." she says, following her inside anyway.

"You're not, you're entertaining me while I finish cooking it," she said, walking back over to the stove and seasoning the chicken cooking in the pan some more. "So! What do you need me to do?" she asked.

[Kay Haddock]

"How... how did you know I came to ask you for something?"

[Victoria Valentine]

"The same way that I know that I intimidate the hell out of you sometimes," Victoria said with a little smirk. "Come on, what is it. Need me to make someone disappear for you?" she joked. Hopefully.

[Kay Haddock]

"Wha? No no no! Just... I was thinking of trying to do a camping trip on the last weekend before classes start. You know, to let everyone forget about that whole attack thing and all that. And I figured... well... it'd sound better to the headmistress if maybe some of you would come too to keep an eye on things?"

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria cocked an eyebrow, considering it. "Hrm. Well, when you're right, you're right, they'll want someone supervising all of you. And I do have things that I need to do that I should get out of the city for..." She nodded. "Well, I'm in, but I'll tell you right now that you'll want someone much more respectable than me on board to get the Headmistress to approve this," she said with a little smirk.

"Well I thought maybe you could ask the other X-Men..." she says sheepishly.

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria laughed. "Well... all right. This time. You realize that making me talk to Gabriel's probably going to get his girlfriend all up in arms. Again. So this had better be worth it," she teased.

[Kay Haddock]

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're the best!" she says, giving Vickie a hug before she can catch herself.

Victoria blinked, a little shocked, then hugged Kay back a little awkwardly. So this is what it's like when people don't think you're a monster.

[Kay Haddock]

"Uhm... So yeah. Thanks." she says, awkwardly, taking a step back but still smiling.

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria chuckled quietly. "Sorry, not much of a hugger myself," she said. "So, where are we taking this little before-school excursion?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Mountain Lakes Camp." she smiles.

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria frowned slightly, taking a small crystal ball in her pocket and placing it in the air. It grew to the size of a large apple as she looked at it, stirring her food all the while, displaying the surface of the earth, interlaced with multicolored lines. "Closer," she would tell it, a few times, as it zoomed in on New York, then on a specific area, though the ball never got any bigger, the logistics being enough to make any logical person get a splitting headache trying to remember exactly how they'd seen it happen. Finally she nodded, snatching it out of the air again, once again the size of a shooter marble, and placed it back into her pocket. "Yes, that place will do rather nicely," she decided.

[Kay Haddock]

"What... was that?" Kay blinks. "Did you just go to Google Maps on a... crystal ball?"

[Victoria Valentine]

"Yes," Victoria said, simply, looking back with a playful smirk at Kay.

[Kay Haddock]

"Wow... But, uhm, anyway, I should let you get back to your cooking. Thanks again!"

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"It's a nice campground. If you need more supervision, I'm happy to come along," Steph offered, walking into the kitchen, wrapped up modestly in a robe, toweling dry her hair.

[Kay Haddock]

"Awesome! Just need someone for the guys then." she beams.

"Oh, uhm, I'm Kay, by the way."

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Stephanie," she smiled, "Very nice to meet you, Kay. I'll see if I can't convince my boyfriend to come along and help chaperone too."

[Kay Haddock]

"That'd be so great!"

[Victoria Valentine]

"Ah, chaperoning, the new way for X-Couples to get 'us' time," Victoria mused, turning the chicken one more time and then going for a plate.

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

Stephanie rolled her eyes at Victoria. "I'm sure it'll be a very fun trip," she smiled at Kay. "Was this your idea?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Yeah!" she says, sounding at least a little bit proud. "Just felt like I should, I dunno, do something."

[Victoria Valentine]

"And it was a good idea," Victoria agreed. "I'm sure there are a lot of your classmates who could stand to get away from here for a few days."

[Kay Haddock]

"A lot of them just got here. Not everyone was stuck here all summer." she smiles a bit crookedly. "But I thought after what happened..."

[Victoria Valentine]

"Exactly," Victoria said with a smile. "Fresh surroundings, fresh outlook."

"Besides, nothing like the woods for bonding, or so they tell me," she mused as she pulled the chicken off the stove. "Are you two going to eat or are you going to make me feel bad being the only one eating on front of you both?" she added as she stabbed a piece of chicken and put it on her plate.

"It smells great but I should probably get going. Thanks again!"

[Stephanie Kaltiera]

"Feel free to email or find me on IM, Kay, if you need me. It's all online," she smiled.

"If you're offering food, Victoria, you know I'll accept" she chuckled, grabbing a plate from the cabinet. "I'll do the dishes too since you're feeding me."
