During Summer: Knock knock, anybody there?

[Kay Haddock]

"Yeah..." she mumbles. "Just... I dunno... Everyone tells me it'll be so much more awesome here but then most of them went home for summer anyway."

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Some of them will end up staying over the summer after their first year. Seems like a lot of people do. It just sucks your first summer here." He pulled open the box and started stacking its contents, books, on the teacher's desk.

[Kay Haddock]

Way to insult the place they live at, dipshit.

"It doesn't suck. I mean... It's just all new and everything still."

[Nathaniel Davis]

"No, trust me. Until you get settled and you get used to everything, it does suck some," he said with a smile. "We both know from experience."

[Kay Haddock]

She looks a little relieved. "Oh good! It's not just me then." she smiles faintly.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Rest assured that you're not the first who's felt that way. It's perfectly normal. Of course, normal around here is... well... unusual." He grinned.

[Kay Haddock]

"Hard to miss..." she says, glancing down at her fingers.

[Nathaniel Davis]

He flexed his fingers on his right hand, sprouting claws and his right arm was covered in white fur up to the elbow and his eyes turned yellow. "Nothing's as it appears, Kay. The outside world just forgets that on a regular basis. As After School Special as it sounds, remember the important bits are the inside, not the outside."

Maybe a bit contrary to Nate's 'lesson' Kay jumps back a bit, startled by the shifting and claws and everything.

"S-sorry..." she manages to get out sheepishly.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"I always manage to scare at least one student every year, even I don't mean too," he said with a chuckle. His arm reverted to looking normal. "Consider yourself a part of the XI family now."

[Kay Haddock]

"Th-thanks. I just didn't... But I guess it makes sense with you being Colin's dad and all." she says, apparently having mistaken fur and claws to mean 'cat'. Because duh, right?

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Nah, Colin looks way more like her than he does me," he said indicating Keahi. "Our other son, Logan's, shifted forms have more wolf in them, but even they're largely cat."

[Keahi Nimar-Davis]

"I just figure it's a by product to the genetic tinkering. Tala, their sister is most canine, though of a more delicate variety. You should have seen Nate shift when he first started here, over 8 feet and black as midnight. Our first meeting was a bit of a catastrophe."

[Kay Haddock]

"Wait, you mean... Oh! Guess I didn't expect... well you know, cat and dog." she jokes horribly awkwardly.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"We're kind of like the Spanish Inquisition in that regard," he laughed. "So if you see a white wolf or a striped housecat or tiger wandering around the grounds, don't be concerned."

[Kay Haddock]

"Figured as much." she puts on a smile. "Just still getting used to it."

[Nathaniel Davis]

"It is a lot to take in."

[Kay Haddock]

She nods.


"Uhm... where should I meet you tomorrow?" she goes after bit of a pause.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"You can either meet us in the garage or we can send Colin to get you if you want."

[Kay Haddock]

"Garage. Got it." she nods.
