Downtime Week 1: At the fair

Postby Felix Jeong » Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:46 pm

It had just passed midday, Felix and Rhi had been at the Carnival for a roughly 2 and a half hours and had much to show for it, numerous prizes won from the various games, the majority of which Felix was carrying inside his backpack, though Rhi was clinging to a large fluffy toy Giraffe, nearly as tall as she was, Felix held two large cones of Cotton Candy, one being Rhiannons and they'd been on the carnivals sole rollercoaster twice, as well as some of the other, less notable rides.

Walking past a wall of distorting mirrors, Felix grins, waving at himself, before turning to Rhi, "What do you think so far? Have we achieved what we set out to?"

"If you mean make my stomach hurt through excessive cotton candy eating then yes." Rhi giggled.

"This was totally the best idea ever, I can't believe how hard you worked for this big fella though.." She hugged her giraffe tight.

"Aw, it was nothing, really I love a challenge." he beamed, a sense of pride regarding his 'accomplishment' evident.

"My mother was a little weird like that, she let me do dancing and singing, cheerleading.. but apparently dolls were the devil." Rhi shrugged.

"Aww, well she probably had her reasons," Felix shrugged with an expression of brief melancholy, "Lego wasn't considered a type of 'doll', was it?"

"Right, just doll-toy seemed similar, but that's good, I dunno what I would've done without lego when I was little..."

Felix nodded in agreement as he took a bite from his cotton candy, before pointing at nearby game stall with a wide grin. The stall was set up with numerous water pistols attached to the sides and several rubber ducks with sticks that supported a bubble attached to their backs, floating in a pond of water behind the counter. The aim seemed to be to burst all the bubbles.

Turning back to Rhi, the grin intact he said, "What do you make of that? Would you like a few more prizes?"

Rhi grinned mischieviously and nodded.

"You hold the gun, I will deal with the water." She stood behind him, her hand slipping around his waist casually so she had an excuse to be close enough to aim.

Felix grinned and tossed the the stall operator a gold coin, putting both the candy-flosses into his left hand and snatching up one of the water pistols with his right.

"You ready?" He smiled back at Rhi before quickly taking aim at the game, looking at the best way to spray the gun to hit the most 'targets', and with a sideways flick of his wrist he pulled the trigger.

Rhi giggled as she directed the jets of water at the targets, Felix's little flourishes and showing off seeming to impresss those watching as water went where it was intended too.

"Oh Felix, you are ever so good!" she cooed.

"I know babe, I know." Felix kept a straight face as he span the water-pistol on his finger and dropped it back in its case. Not a single bubble was left unburst, including the ones hidden by props, much to the wonder of the stall-owner and a few of the onlookers.

Felix grabbed his prize off the wall of the stall, a large fluffy toy blue elephant, which upon noting Rhi still had her arms full, he slung over his shoulder. Turning to Rhi with a smile he said in a slightly hushed voice, "You're ever so good too."

Rhi blushed, something about how boyish Felix was made her feel a little.. bashful herself.

Felix smiled as Rhi's features turned a slightly redder tone and gave her a light kiss on the cheek, before quickly pulling away and looking off in the distance at the numerous other activities sprawled out, "Let's go, are there any other rides or games you want to see or do?"

"Ferris Wheel - the Big One!"

Rhi slipped her arm through Felix's a grin on her face. Her hurts were aching less or perhaps she wasn't thinking about them quite so much.

"Are you scared of heights? My sister always used to rock the seat when we got to the top and I was sooo terrified. Now I enjoy it but I still don't like when it rocks.. it just creeps me out." Rhi bubbled happily.

"Nope, I have no fear," Felix proclaimed with exaggerated arrogance, "Don't worry if we share our ride with anyone I'll explain to them that you get motion sickness very easily and if they don't want to have to throw out their clothes when they go home then they better not rock the wheel."

"But I was only trying to help!" Felixs' lip quivered before he chuckled, "Don't worry, I'd never."

Now at the base of the Wheel, Felix passed the operator another coin and they were motioned to wait in a short queue, which now consisted of them and an elderly woman and her grandchildren.

"Okay, I feel totally safe with these sorts of companions." Rhi grinned as they took their place on the ferris wheel, she slid in and patted the seat beside her.

"Come on then."

"We could still wait for the next one if you want?" Felix said as he stood in the doorway, "it' won't be as crowded." Though before Rhiannon could respond Felix was growled at by the operator for holding the wheel up and he quickly slid down besides Rhi.

Rhi grinned happily, her heart rate already starting to increase in anticipation. She pulled a cheeky face at Felix as the ride begun.

"Don't worry Felix, I will look after you!"

"Huh, I get the feeling someone, somewhere, out there just missed the opportunity to sell you medievil gear."

The elderly woman grumbled something at one of the children as he dangled a toy out of the grated window, though the kid ignored her.

Felix chuckled too, "Haven't played any of those kinds of games in a while."

There was a yell as the kid dropped his toy out the window and he started crying about it despite his gaurdians efforts. Felix glanced from Rhi to the boy, then down to his bag, which he unzipped and reached into. It took a little while but eventually he pulled out a lego spaceship and offered it to the crying child who quickly ceased his crying and snatched it.

The elderly woman stared at Felix and stammered, "W-why thank you...I'm really, terribly sorry about Wade, is it ok if he gives it back to you at the end of the ride?"

"Yea, sure, heck he can keep it if you want." Felix shrugged before turning to Rhi with a hushed voice, "Hmm, her mind right now: Why the hell does this guy carry toy spaceships around."

"Or more to the point... do I have to endure the rest of this ride with a creepy paedo checking out my kid?" Rhi murmured quietly to Felix. With a grin she turned to look out over the side of the Ferris Wheel.

"What do you mean in a while? Do you normally play those games, Felix"

"No experimentation for me. Not even close." Not with having only had one lover, that in the the last week and even then competing for his attention even while he is in bed with me.
