Sept 27 - Team 4 - Warehouse assault

[Narrator]

The helicopter set down a short distance back from the warehouse that Team 4 had been sent to raid, in an extraction point deemed least detectable by the pilot.

[Chloe Grant]

Chloe flew out low and then landed a safe distance away, waiting for her team to unload.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal stepped out of the helicopter, pistols drawn, and checking their charge.

HAL? Security sweep. Anything electronic that's broadcasting, I want to know, and I want it disrupted.

[Zachary Flint]

Zach hopped after Calvin, immediately drawing his Beretta 92F and looking around. He moved over behind Calvin and watched the area. He knelt down and placed his hand to the ground. His eyes flashed white, just trying to get a glimpse of any recent activity in the area 50 yards around them.

[Simon Kipling]

Simon had learned his lesson the last time they had taken a strike at a warehouse. His suit had a bit of light protective padding added; anything more would restrict his movement and make him weaker. He opted to do without weapons, wearing extra-thick gloves to protect his hands and feet.

He kept quiet, looking at the others.

[Juma Ngomo]

True to his word to Kelly, Juma sticks close to Zach for now. He sends on the com units to keep Chloe in the loop, "Anything unusual going on?"

[Narrator]

Zach doesn't see anything in the last thirty minutes or so, things have been pretty quiet.

The Warehouse sits quiet and dark, with all of the doors closed up tightly. All but one of the doors have a heavy chain through the handles, locked by a padlock. One of them is not so locked, and there are some signs in the dirt around it that it's been used fairly regularly.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal caught the group's attention, then indicated the door with the recent use. "What do you think?" he asked quietly. "Check there, or go through the doors people aren't using to get inside?"

[Zachary Flint]

"It would appear things have been quiet for awhile this far out."

He said as he lowered the gun slightly. "We can move up closer and I can take a look to see which entry would be safest. Do we have a means of breaking into the other doors easily?"

[Juma Ngomo]

"I can handle breaking the doors, though it will not be subtle."

[Chloe Grant]

"Breeeak dooown." Chloe squawked, her talons flashing.

[Simon Kipling]

Simon looked around the warehouse area for a vehicle like a van or something. If they were going to bust through a loading door it might be better to go fast and with a bit of mass behind the momentum.

[Narrator]

There's no vehicle parked right next to the warehouse, but there are a few in the area, two vans and an actual lorry.

[Simon Kipling]

Simon nodded his head toward the lorry with a big grin.

"You think we're allowed to borrow stuff like that, like the police? It'd make a hell of an entrance."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal looked at the truck and grinned. "Anyone know how to hotwire a truck?" he asked, looking eagerly back at his teammates.

[Zachary Flint]

Zachary chuckled. "I'm afraid not. Maybe this'll be one of those situations where they have the keys stashed in the sun visors?"

[Juma Ngomo]

"Don't look at me, I have a hard enough time driving at the best of times."

[Calvin Strong]

"Well, if no one else wants to..."

Cal jogged over to lorry. HAL? I need to get into this... oh hell, the window would probably break anyway. Just help me hotwire this.

Calvin, this is violating several local-

Just do it, okay? Cal punched out the window with his cybernetic hand, reached in and unlocked it, then slid in under the dash to hotwire it.

[Narrator]

Calvin smashes the window easily. It takes a bit of fiddling to get the van going, but it's old enough that it has no real protection against hotwiring.

A minute or so later and the engine rumbles.

[Zachary Flint]

"Excellent work Calvin. So, which entrance are we going for?"

[Calvin Strong]

Call pulled around and lined the van up with a likely entrance, the one closest to his team. "This one's good!" he answered, a sort of manic glee in his voice. This is going to be so cool...

He shifted the van into neutral, then gunned the engine. With the pedal to the floor, he sent an arc of electricity through it, welding it in place. Then, evaluating his ejection options, he slammed the van into drive. It leapt forward, and Cal leapt out the door, rolling to his knees to watch his handiwork.

[Narrator]

The van smashes through the door with a truely impressive tearing of metal and snapping of chains. Sparks fly everywhere, and the van actually rolls over, sliding along the warehouse floor!

A huge opening in the wall yawns before the team, nothing immediately leaps out, but then again a van just crashed through there so...

The warehouse is dark, the only thing that can really be seen in there is what looks like some broken computer parts scattered on the floor and some kind of sparking electrical conduit.

[Simon Kipling]

"Looks like that's our cue" Enkidu grinned widely, bolting toward the newly-fashioned entrance.

[Calvin Strong]

"Oh my god, I love this job," Cal whispered gleefully as they made their way in. He switched to his low-light vision options, testing them all to see which one would work best as they entered.

[Zachary Flint]

Zachary peered into the dark warehouse. He sighed, seeing the place was pitch black and holstered his gun. He reached around to grab his night vision gear before patting his pockets, just double checking ammo and such. He reached into one then blinked when he pulled out a cross. He smiled. Thanks Kelly..

He put the cross away and moved inside after Calvin. Drawing his gun once more before turning on the night vision.

[Chloe Grant]

Chloe flew to the entrance, intending to fly up to the ceiling of the building and look around.

[Narrator]

Once the team got inside the warehouse, it would be clear that it was........

Empty.

Totally, completely, utterly.

Empty.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal frowned. "I thought this was supposed to be a big important target," he said.

[Simon Kipling]

Simon looked pretty disappointed. Especially at the prospect that he might be held responsible in part for the destruction of someone's van for no good reason.

"Damn it. Well, we should at least check it out all over. Maybe there's some files or clues or something that was left behind."

[Zachary Flint]

Zach looked around but his expression held one more of general relief than disappointment. All in all, this place must of been chosen as an important point for a reason.

"It must of been for some reason Cyber. It may be that we arrived too late for something.." He said, moving towards the center of the warehouse. He looked around carefully before touching the floor in the center. Replaying the history of the warehouse for his teammates. He'd continue rewinding the events until something of interest popped up.

[Narrator]

The answer lay in a replay of the very recent past.

The vampires, and there were a considerable number of them, were all loading up to move out, armed for a fight. There were several comments passed around, similar to the trash-talk the students gave about how they were going to pound the vampires... except the vampires were talking about how they were going to pound the Xavier University.

[Chloe Grant]

"Buuuuugggger!" Chloe squawed as she saw the scene that Zach was replaying for them. Swiftly she angled back to the ground and sifted to human form.

[Zachary Flint]

After getting tired of hearing the vampires' drivel he stopped the replay and stood up.

"Well..." He glanced around. "Fuck."

"So, lets get going." He said as he headed back the way they came in. "We should get Network on the line."

[Calvin Strong]

"Just. Fucking. Run," Cal hissed, holstering his pistols and hurring back out the shattered wall.

[Chloe Grant]

Chloe hurried back towards the helicopter, silently praying they could make it back in time "This was just a diversion?" she said plaintively.

[Calvin Strong]

"Let's hope it was the only one," Cal answered as he jumped into the chopper.

[Simon Kipling]

Simon felt a bit ashamed for having been duped so easily. He ran back to the helicopter with the rest, wasting no time.

[Zachary Flint]

He climbed into the helicopter as well, sighing as he wondered what sort of shambles the school may of been left in.
