Sept 27 - Team 5 - Warehouse assault

Postby Narrator » Wed May 27, 2009 6:39 pm

The helicopter set down a short distance back from the warehouse that Team 5 had been sent to raid, in an extraction point deemed least detectable by the pilot.

Kelly followed Kevin as they exited. Once outside he took a deep sigh and waited for instructions, "Lion Heart you want me to fly you to the roof and wait for a signal from Zero and Alice or you want to just wing it?" Kelly made the pun and wiggled his wings.

He nodded back at Kevin, "Okay let me know when you're ready. I can get us up there silently and safely. My eyes can spot anything." Kelly did have superior sight, after all he is like a falcon.

Kelly gave a few stretchs of his wings and body before they started and inhaled and exhaled to expend his lungs.

He started to use his sight to see if they were already spotted, if there were guards, traps, or anything else he should alert his team about.

Veronica was quiet and unseen, having gotten herself "prepared" on the helicopter ride to the warehouse. Her white and red uniform had contrasted against theirs; a little something she brought from her time at the Institute that she couldn't part with just yet. That and her mask made her stand out from the others a little bit. But perhaps that was the best, it might make her an even more of a distraction if everything went well.

Kelly turned his attention for a moment to Zero and Veronica, <"Good luck ladies.> Not that you'll need it." He flashed them his pearly whites and then went back to scouting, "Just tell us when Zero. You're the leader. Just keep us informed."

The warehouse has several visible entrances. A trio of loading docks suitable for lorries are the largest entrances, though all three are currently rolled down and shut. A human-sized service door is on the far corner of the loading dock area. On the opposite side of the building, a pair of double-doors lead into a grimy reception area. Most of the windows are coated with dust and filth so as to make them impenetrable to normal sight. There is an access hatch on the roof near a set of air conditioner units which are currently operational.

The banging about brings attention fairly quickly, in the form of a pale-skinned young man wearing welder's goggles and filthy overalls. "Eh, what's this then? What're you doing back 'ere?" The door is opened for Zero after a furtive glance to the sides.

"Aye, we do. You're supposed to be watching the prisoner transfer, what's goin' on?" The vamp moves into a side office off the main entrance. The new room contains a table with a range of packages and wrappings strewn over it and a second vampire, this one with a more imposing build.

The burly vampire seems to be putting the finishing touches on a small bomb of some sort, slipping detonator wires into a brick of plastic explosive. As Zero looks over the table, she sees most of the wrappings are from similar assembled devices; at a quick guess there's enough garbage to have made a dozen or so bombs but only three are in evidence in the room, including the one being assembled. "And just what would that be, luv?"

Zero smiles faintly, dropping the canister carrying Veronica, releasing her like planned.

"I was never really on your side," Zero says, a butterfly knife flicking into her hand and slashing at the nearest vampire's neck.

Zero's plan works well, to a point. The vampires in the room were starting to catch on to the deception because of Zero's different mental patterns, but her strike was still soon enough that neither foe was truly ready for it. Her blade slashes along the upraised forearm of the vamp as he instinctively blocks with superhuman speed and hisses in pain. "Finish the bombs, I'll deal with this one." The burly vamp gathers up the three explosive charges and makes his way to a door leading further into the warehouse.

Kelly's grand entrance brings him into the actual storage area of the warehouse, rather than the office space Zero and Veronica are in. The first thing that catches his keen eye is a large, circular cage set up in the middle of the floor. It's easily twenty feet across and is dominated by a large, slavering beast built like a dire wolf. The creature is chained to a post in the middle of the cage, and four mutants are pressed against the outer rim of the cage as they try to stay out of reach of it's snarling lunges. A kennel area is set off to one side, housing at least three more similar beasts. A few explosive charges can be seen scattered around the room, mainly on support pillars, and a vampire is working on opening the kennel gates.

Zero's foe lets the blade come in and hit the thick goggles he is wearing, returning the attack with a brutally fast punch to the ribs.

"We've got explosives up here too. Lionheart, discharge them or play hero with the captives," is the first thing that came to Kelly's mind. Which is usually what he said anyway. Kelly quickly flew towards the vampire trying to open up the cages. He released a wind bolt as strong as he knew how attempting to knock the vampire over, drop the keys it had, and have the dire wolves in range enough to hopefully bite him. His wind blasts easily knocked people over and could break medium objects, so as long as these vampires weren't made of metal he would hopefully be more on the successful side. This was all wishfull thinking of course. He wanted to remove the vamipre just in case he had the power to explode this place and stop him from releasing more enemies on his team and the mutant captives.

I am a spring tightly coiled, I am a spring tightly coiled, I am SPRUNG!

Veronica had been so quiet because she was concentrating; not just on staying small but keeping her energy built up and primed for a growth surge. Her petite little body rocketed toward amazonian size in mere seconds, flipping the table onto it's side in the process as she stretched taller and taller. Her head hit the drop ceiling with a soft bump, displacing one of the tiles.

"Ello guv'nah!" Alice smiled, immediately swinging her fist at the brutish vampire.

Kevin had jumped after Kelly and used his reflexes and agility to jump his way down.

"I'll take out the wolf and free the hostages. I can do it quickly then help you with the bombs."

He then jumped INTO the cage, blades flaring to life as he landed in a crouch.

"You've been a very bad puppy."

In the offices, the look of victory over the vampire's face turns to trepidation as Alice mushrooms to greater height. Her powerful blow strikes the retreating brute in the back, propelling him further down the hallway. One of the explosive charges lands on the ground and a soft beep sounds as the timer starts to pulse countdown digits while the burly vampire recovers his feet and moves into another room. The door-greeter turns from the apparently vanquished Zero and leaps over to Alice, raking claws down in a vicious strike.

Lionheart's swords blaze in twin arcs as he leaps down, cutting through the top of the cage with ease and landing in a crouch on the circle of cut cage as it hits the floor. The dire wolf spins with unnerving agility as it hears the new arrival, gobs of drool running down oversized fangs. With a bay and a lunge, it charges straight for Lionheart.

Kelly's wing bolt hits the vampire at the cages. His strong grip lets him hang on to the cage door and he rides the bolt up, managing to land on his feet at the top of the cage. With a burst of desperate strength, he pulls the gate open to allow one of the dire wolves to leap out and enter the main area of the warehouse. The newcomer immediately leaps for the caged hostages, who shy back from the bars in reaction.

Though Alice's costume offers her some protection and her skin is considerably thicker than before the striking claws of the smaller vampire still cut into her flesh. In anger she slams the back of her palm against his chest, having to squat somewhat to keep her shoulders from hitting the ceiling. She is less than pleased with the little man at the moment.

Kelly noticed thee newly unleashed beast but still quickly changed his flght pattern to save the civillians. He could outfly a wolf anyday. As the beast closed in on the captives his feet claws went to grip and pick up the back of it's head and neck in a sneak attack.

Kevin's blades come up and cut deep into the leaping wolf. He manages to keep the slavering jaws from grabbing a hold but one set of claws rakes along his shoulder, causing a light flesh wound. The beast yelps as it lands, still moving but slowed down a lot from it's injuries.

Zero wrote:Zero coughs, crawling out of the pile of boxes and getting back to his feet. Seeing the explosives, Zero moves quickly towards them to determine how long the timer has.

Easily readable LED numbers are ticking down with two minutes and fourty-five seconds remaining on the clock.

The doorman staggers back from the blow but quickly recovers, going in again for a lower slash at Veronica's legs since her vital organs are steadily moving out of reach.

Kelly's aerial assault is indeed a surprise and he lands his talons in the back of the newly released dire wolf. The creature twists and snaps, teeth coming dangerously close to Kelly's limbs. Meanwhile, the free vampire in the room leaps to the next kennel and pulls open the door to free another dire wolf.

With the wolf in his grasp he locked onto the vampire near the kennels and hurrels the wolf powerfully at him. Kelly had the strength, the momentum, and the vision to to do this. Hopefully the vampire was too distracted opening the cage to notice the flung wolf. Even if he missed the vampire the dire wolf would most likely be out for the fight with broken bones or worse.
