Issue 1 Downtime

Rick and Marcus agreed to walk around a bit after wrapping things up, though they both thought it wise to remain close to campus as they strolled.

"I say it's about time for dinner. What do you think?"

"When am I not hungry?" He asked cheerily. His hands shoved into the front pocket of his hoodie.

"That settles that. Anything in particular that you have in mind?"

"Not really. I'm never picky when it comes to food. Besides, call me paranoid, but just being out here makes me feel a little shaky."

"Pft. Then why did you want to go do this?"

"Ah, well. We can find a pub or something easy enough. No reason to be out too long."

"Feeling a little uneasy never has to stop anyone from doing anything. Besides, I'd enjoy pretending that the whole school wasn't on lockdown for what, a week or two?"

He brought his hand over to take Rick's, holding onto it. "Besides, we haven't spent a night out since the London Eye. I'm missing stuff like this."

Rick smiled warmly at Marcus, locking his fingers around the other's hand. "Yeah, I agree. It's been too long since we've had a real date or anything." He learned in quickly, giving Marcus a brief peck on the cheek, as they continued walking.

"On top of that, I just love being out at night. Not sure what it is. Maybe some hopeless romantic vibes." He turned his head quickly, catching the kiss on his cheek on the lips instead.

"Well, very much not hopeless anymore."

"It's been a while since you've been hopeless, hon," Rick said, smirking. "I'm glad it's such a good evening. I bet it'll rain tomorrow, just in time to deal with the...you-know-whats," he groaned.

"Oh. I know that very well. Can't be more happier either." He said sincerely.

"That's a nice way to make the assault even more epic than it appears to be." He sighed, wishing they had avoided any talk on this stuff. "Still in disbelief over Charlie. It's not like he was a weak fighter.."

Once the reached one of the open resturants he pointed over to it. "How's this place?"

"Looks great to me. Smells great, too." Rick walked through the door to the pub, and wound up getting a table against a wall.

Marcus sat down across from Rick. "Yeah, you're right about this place. I'm glad when we have gone out to eat we've normally picked good spots."

"Yeah, I havn't had anything horrible in London yet. Most of it's been good." A wait came by, asking for their drink orders. Rick only asked for a glass of ice water.

A trio of attractive young men, dressed all in black and wearing heavy goggles came in and took a seat by the door.

Rick was angled to see them easily enough, but he made no overt reaction, only really having seen one of the vampires thus far, and he didn't recognise their distinctive headgear.

"Hm. I may go with bangers and mash."

Marcus nodded and by time the waiter came back, he simply pointed at something off the menu for his order.

He clasped his hands behind his head and leaned back in his seat. He let out a sigh and glanced around.

"So, how are you feeling now? Yesterday was pretty rough."

"I'm...better. Better than I was yesterday. Still not sunshine and kittens, though," he replied, flatly.

He chuckled. "Not that I'd expect you to be." He looked off to the side of the booth. "Be right back." He said as he slid out of the seat then headed for the Pub's restroom.

"Okay." Rick sat and waited for Marcus to return, sipping his water now and then. He did see the three guys near the door, but figured they were getting a bite to eat before heading off to a concert or something. Still...what was it about the goggles that was a bit unsettling?

Marcus walked back out, heading for the table where Rick was. He spotted the three males by the door, not really having an reaction. He sat across from Rick. He gave a shifty glance off to the side, trying to indicate something was odd about them.

"Yeah. I know." That was all Rick said to Marcus concerning the matter. Soon enough, their food was set on the table, piping hot. "Looks great, thanks!"

"Thanks! Man. This does look really good." Marcus' attention shifting back to his hunger. He unwrapped his silverware from the napkin and started to dig in.

Rick did the same, getting a good first bite of sausage, potato, and gravy. "Yum." He continued to eat his meal, mostly in silence. He looked up again, briefly, at the three near the door. They had handsome features, without a doubt. But something about them was bugging him. Something he nearly had his finger on.

The group had the 'standard vamp gear' thing going on so he pretty much had an idea. He just wanted a nice date too. He'd get to see plenty of those bastards tomorrow. He smiled and attempted to steer his attention back to their time together.

"So, are you really gonna try and be apart of Will's band? Nice. If you guys get big then I'll be dating a musician. Right on."

"Tch. Yeah. I'm sure I'll be tearing up some chords and shit." He chuckled. "But hey, maybe we could get good enough to do some of those local gigs in Mutant Town. Who knows, right?"

"Of course. I'm just putting that out there." He was clearing through his plate rather quickly. He leaned back and slipped his hands back into the front pocket of his sweatshirt. His fingers twirled around the panic button inside. After a moment, he pressed it. He slumped back into his chair, looking rather content.

"We may have to come to this place more."

"Heh. True." He continued eating, looking around here and there. He noticed the pale young men and their goggles, and that's when he remembered what Jubilee had said earlier in the day.

He nearly dropped his fork, but realized it was best to not draw attention. He merely smiled pleasantly at Marcus, saying, "We have company."

"I knew this." He said, slipping a hand back out of his pocket to go ahead and finish up the rest of his food.

"So, walk around some more and maybe find a quiet spot? Have a hot public make out sessoin?"

Rick raised a single eyebrow. "I think a more public place would be better." He sure as hell didn't want to be caught alone with those three.
