Issue 1 Downtime

Anita and Ryan arrive at an 'American Style Bar-b-que' restaurant. Called Texas BBQ, it certainly does have a good smell wafting through the door. It's among many quaint or touristy little hole in the wall restaurants in Camden, just off the open air market.

Anita stretches, sniffs. "Well, it smells mostly right."

"Well, I suppose that we can't complain too much if other countries get American food as wrong as we get their food," Ryan said shrugging, as he held the door open for her. "Still smells good, though."

Anita steps in, and the two are seated by a waitress. "Yeah, it's just missin' that gasoline smell."

"We'll have to have our own barbecue at the school or in Mutant Town to show 'em all how it's done," Ryan said, grinning.

"The best barbecue is always at a gas station." Anita grins, checks over the menu.

"Hmmm... all the good barbecues I went to were outside auto parts shops and things like that. Don't know that I went to one at an actual gas station, though. We'll have to try it."

"The British, though, obviously haven't mastered the culinary use of hydrocarbons, so we'll just have to make do with what's available tonight."

"I'm excited anyway." Anita smiles. "I didn't think ya could even get this close to a barbecue place around here. Been ages since I've had some good pork ribs."

"Well, we've only been out of the states for a few weeks, so that's partly your own fault," Ryan teased. "But I know what you mean."

"I got here early, actually. That's why I had the spiffy uniform and my guns registered and stuff."

Anita orders and hands her menu off to the waitress.

"So what's new in your life? Haven't seen much of you, like you said."

Ryan considered it. "Honestly, not much," he admitted. "Keeping busy with training and such," he said, somewhat evasively.

Anita raises a brow but doesn't press him. "Soo... how angry do you think Lumis will REALLY be if we organize our own mission?"

"That might depend on how successful we are," Ryan said thoughtfully. "If we run in half-cocked and get our asses handed to us, he's probably not going to be too happy. On the other hand, if we do our homework, go in, and clean house, I don't think he'll have much room to complain."

"Question being, of course, who do we take with us? Will's still out of commission, and three people a successful mission doesn't make with the vampires."

"Of course, if we're going to try a clandestine mission, we don't necessarily have to stick with just our team."

He considered it. "We could just take the best two from each team and take them out..."

"Well, let's run down. Bear gives us range and accuracy. Marcus is... hell, I don't even know how to classify him. Kevin's got short range high power. What else do we need?"

"I meant outside our team... notice I didn't mention the two of us, either. But since you raise the point, do you think we should?" He thought about it. "Pair her with Marcus, and she could probably pin down a whole group of vamps on her own."

"That's the problem, isn't it," Ryan said, frowning. "Do we even have the intelligence to come up with an objective? Tentatively, I'd say that the objective is to draw them out, find the head of the group and cut it off."

"Oooh, ribs!" Anita takes her plate and thanks the waitress.

Ryan took a few minutes just to eat, seeing how he was really hungry. "So... I hate saying this, but we're probably going to need bait."
