With Sam in tow Nailah steps into a bar somewhere in Mayfair. A couple of heads are turned but it's hard to tell whether that's because of Nailah's obvious mutation or because they're somewhat recognizable to the general public. Either way Nailah doesn't seem to care right now and makes a bee-line to the bar to order drinks for the two of them.

"Nice choice," she said as she sidled up to the bar.

"Hopefully it'll hold." she says, though she sounds optimistic. And really, the place isn't down-trodden enough for the kind of people who'd start something.

"As long as the hairy-handed gent who ran amok in Kent doesn't show up here in Mayfair?"

"Hate to break it to you, but I think we're the metaphorical werewolves of London." she says as the barkeeper puts down their very un-pina-colada like drinks.

"At this stage in my life, I think I can live with being something that goes bump in the night."

"I'll drink to that." she says, raising her glass.

"To cautionary tales," she said as she raised her glass to Nailah's before taking a sip.

"To being the guardians they never asked for." she smiles with a bit of self-deprecation before taking a sip.

"I think there's almost an instinctual, subconscious level on which... certain things are still acknowledged."

"Just as long as that's where we stay. But I suppose there's a certain almost romantic side to it. None of these people know what we turned away in that forest. And they don't need to."

"Aye. Not everyone needs to see that world with waking eyes, particularly that corner of it."

"I s'pose that's what I'm afraid of. Because I've stepped close to it, maybe too close, and I know that there's something in that abyss that's staring back at me."

"We're a part of that. We've been a part of that for perhaps longer than we were willing to acknowledge."

"No, it goes beyond that. Past where the wild things are. You must have felt it in that forest. It's slippery, vile, everything that shouldn't be. And I reached out for it..."

"I sensed it, aye."
"You're worried that you might again?"

"Didn't stop me from... well you know..." she gestures at her head, not wanting to mention certain things in a bar full of people. "I mean I'm not consciously going to do it."

"Worth a thought, aye?"

She just shrugs and takes a rather large sip from her drink. "I'm just going to try and forget about that for now. No point speculating about something that's just going to make me spiral into doom and gloom."

"Just a bit. And I know it's no certainty but being aware does... vaccinate you somewhat. That whole thing in the forest just about scared the living daylights out of me."

She seemed thoughtful for a moment.
"...you know, now that I think on it I want to take you to a salon, or a spa, or the like."
"Perhaps even shopping. Something frivolous, even decadent."
