"I thought we'd been over this already." Amanda replied, sounding unsure if they'd talked about it or not "I'm more sensitive to cold, and have a better sense of smell than a baseline human. I had quite a through work up done at Columbia, I'd be glad to send you a copy of the file. Of course" the impish smile returned "if you wanted to conduct your own examination, I might be amenable. Strictly for science, of course."

Stan smiled slightly.

"Sorry. We did talk about your body constitution. I just wanted to probe a little deeper, see how the low temperature actually feels. I'd love to see the workup.. and I'd be happy to take an additional look."

Stan gave his own, playful grin.

Amanda's reply was interrupted by the server showing up to take their order. Once that was done she said "Of course, I"d also like to see a demonstration of your abilities. In the same spirit of scientific inquiry, of course."

Their food arrived, and they lapsed into companionable silence as they ate.

The samosa's were very good, and Stan enjoyed himself and his company greatly.

After the check arrived and was paid, Stan sat back with a cup of tea.

"This was a great idea for a meal, Amanda. Thank you."

A dark, trench-coated figure rapidly descends a fire escape in an alleyway nearby, dropping down to ground level in a quiet flutter of clothing. He adjusts the heavy goggles protecting his eyes and moves up to the corner of the alleyway, leaning in to a shadowy area to watch the passing pedestrians.

"Its this way." Amanda said, unknowingly leading Stan in the direction of the vampire. As they reached the mouth of the alleyway she paused, nostrils flariing as she scented something odd.

The figure spots what looks like easy prey; a young mutant and a man past his prime, easy pickings. He lurks at the edge of the alley, waiting for Amanda and Stan to get close enough to grab. When Amanda pauses to sniff, he makes his move, reaching out to grab each of them by the sleeve and pull them in. There is a lot of speed and force behind the grab and the pair find themselves stumbling towards a dumpster.
