May 9th, Late: The Tail and Fang

Postby Will Stanton » Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:08 pm

The bar Logan had given the members of the undercover mission was surprisingly clean for a supposed gang hideout, even if it was in the slummier areas of Mutant Town. This late at night, the door was closed, of course, though thumping music could be heard behind the door.

The password the students had been given was "Swordfish".

Kat (apparently) was the first to show up and hammers on the door.

A big (apparently) guy opened the slat in the door.

"Beat it. We're closed."

"Alright. C'mon in," he said, opening the door.

The bass music was thumping, and scattered around the bar were other obvious mutants, none of them really talking.

Re: May 9th, Late: The Tail and Fang

Postby Meg A Ohm » Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:38 pm

Meg arrived shortly after Kathrin and Chloe had entered; in fact, she had seen them approach as she had flown toward the building. However, to keep things from seeming a little too coincidental, she had given the pair to the count of 30 to be inside before she approached.

Meg lost count on just how many times she had run her fingers through her recent cut hair. Her trademark pigtails were gone, and her hair, which easily reached past her shoulders when she wore it loose, barely reached the back of her neck...and then only on one side. Though she hadn't given it a buzzcut on the other side, she did wear it very short, a more punk style that she had worn just after she had started high school, and well before coming to Xavier's. It had been a last minute decision on her part to cut it, hoping to keep the chances of someone outside of her infiltration team recognizing her.

Ironically, the rest of her outfit was rather easy to cobble together for this. A pair of black Doc Martens, black skin-tight jeans, and a black crop top were all in her wardrobe, if rarely worn these days. Her black leather trench coat was her only concession to vanity.

She pounded on the door heavily and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting with a look of boredom on her face. Her heart, though was hammering in her chest.

Meg looked at the guard with a certain amount of defiance, but eternally thankful that the password actually worked. Then, she walked casually by him and looked around the place. She spotted her cohorts, but gave them no more attention than she did anyone else inside. After that, she found a spot and listened distractedly to the music.

Gradually, one by one, they were all let in, and the room was filled with about 25 people, some looking real tough, some...not looking real tough.

The bartender, avoiding small talk, filled everyone's glasses repeatedly.

On a balcony overlooking the second floor, a couple people were huddled up, talking, occasionally glancing down at the assembled mass.

Cal drank casually, looking almost bored, which allowed him to consume enough to not arouse suspicion, but not get caught up with other people and get loaded, either.

Meg had nursed her drink as well, though her glass was probably closer to empty now than not. At the sound of the voice from the upper level, she turned to face him, giving the impression of being a bit more sluggish than she felt. Then again, she had always found it a lot harder to fake being sober when she was drunk than the other way around.

"Together, we will wipe this city clean of its filth! And when they are gone, we, and we alone, will rule triumphant! We are the Thousand Sons, and we burn bright!"

...apparently, Needles is not aware of the spelling difference, or is making a rather clever pun. ...judging from his name, it's likely the former.

The gentleman beside Needles, if he could be called that, was rather quiet. Despite looking like the type of person who would run his mouth off without thinking.

HAL, if this is a free-for-all, I want you to keep a remote eye on the people on the team. If we can help it, we need to help them get through. Barring that? Keep them from getting too hurt.

"Right," Needles said, following them down, with a hat.

"In this hat are numbers from 1-12. Draw one out, say voo play"

Somewhat inappropriately, tense music began to build around the room as each person pulled a number from the hat. The gentleman who hadn't introduced himself yet was grinning to himself as he scanned the faces of the hopefuls.

Despite the smile she showed just behind her drink at Needles' recruitment speech, Meg felt more like tasering the bastard just to shut him up. She was going to a certain amount a pleasure tearing the Suns down from the inside.

At the indication of a potential gladiatorial-style combat to determine for entry to the Suns, Meg made sure not to show her concerns. She'd have to be careful, both in not excessively hurting someone and to avoid being hurt herself. Unfortunately, I doubt my opponent's going to be just as nice. I might just have to kick things up a notch, depending on how things go.

She filed in behind the others, keeping a mask of aloofness in place as she drew her slot.

"Looks like ten for me," she said with a shrug.
