Cal and Svetlana appeared in front of a rather nice restaurant in Bankside, where Cal had heard that yes, you could actually get a good steak and good atmosphere. Taking a look at the place, he saw that at the very least, the second part appeared to be true, even if the first hadn't been tested yet. "And here we are," he said, moving to open the door for her.

"Very glad that the lady approves," Cal said, following her in. He stopped at the entrance and gave his name, was quietly bumped to the top of the list (probably because of the folded bills he slipped the man) and they were shown to their seats at a rather quiet table away from the entrance.

He hadn't picked up his menu, but rather had had his AI scan it from his peripheral vision and scroll the short-listed options (based on his logged preferences) to him across the bottom of his vision/

The exact difference in his body mass and weight that this would be actually scrolled across the corner of his vision, but Cal ignored this. "Probably. It's too much fun to regret, though," he admitted. "So what about you? What with the 'interesting' people at the XUB and too much noise at the Assembly, I didn't really get to ask much about you. Is this your first time abroad?"

"I grew up in small village," Lana says, "Was very nice. When men from the state come, they test the children. Tell my parents I am mutant. After that, I lived in Moscow at school for mutants."

"I love home, but it is nice to see other places," Lana says.

"How do they handle the testing over there?" Cal asked curiously. "They tried something like that in the States a few years back, but it kind of got tossed after it led to the usual 'round up and hunt down the mutants' garbage."

"Mutants have to hone their gifts for the good of the people," Lana says, "The government is in best position to be providing funding for such a school. Not all countries have eccentric billionaire philanthropists to be making private school for such a thing."

Cal nodded. "My dad thinks that I think I'm better than him, that I don't respect him, that I'm trying to make him look bad... of course, all of that does make him look bad and make me not respect him, but hey, I guess I can always say he started it," he said, shrugging.
