Archer's - A Pub and Restaurant

Postby Anita Fernandez » Sun Mar 08, 2009 1:37 pm

Ryan and Anita head into the restaurant side of the pub, it purports to serve wholesome, no-nonsense fare. They get a table easily enough, having arrived during a non-rush time.

Anita takes a seat and looks over the menu, pretty standard stuff, traditional English fare with the addition of a few other staple dishes such as pasta and the like.

"Hmmm, looks like a good place. Meat an' potatoes."

"Just imagine if they'd decided to make the school in France. I think I'd starve," Ryan joked as he looked over the menu.

"Right." Anita orders when the waitress comes by, a beef pot pie and a beer.

Feeling, as usual, hungry as hell, Ryan ordered a shepherd's pie, and ordered a pint to go with it. "Gotta say, I love the beer over here," he added as the waitress left.

"Ya don't have ta commit to anything. I just wanna know, do you maybe see us together someday, not datin' anybody else? Or do ya think it'll stay casual?"

Anita recieves her food from the waitress and thanks her.

If she was expecting Ryan to look uncomfortable, she'd be surprised. The question didn't seem to bother him in the least, and as he took a bite, he seemed to be considering it carefully. "Like you said, I'm not going to make any promises," he said. "But... yeah, I could see that. I like you. I have a lot of fun when we're out. I think it's a little soon to tell... but I think I could see that."

"Cool." Anita smiles. "That's all I wanted ta know."

Ryan's second bite is... problematic. As he lowers the fork to the pie, it bends, and twists up, as if afraid to touch the pie. Pulling the fork away restores it to its previous state. Pushing it down at the pie again will cause the fork to curl up as if in fear or revulsion.

Ryan frowned, testing the effect over again. "...The hell?" Confused, he put his fork down and picked up his spoon, trying that.

Anita blinks, and watches. The spoon acts as if it hits an invisible barrier, 'melting' and spreading out on a non-existant flat surface when pushed at the pie. Like the fork, it returns to normal shape if pulled away.

"Oh, my god. The pie is evil."

"Yeah, no kidding," Ryan said, frowning. He looked like he wanted to try touching it for a second, but thought better of it. He flipped the spoon over, offering it to Anita. "You try."

Anita is able to dig the spoon right into the pie. "Or... maybe it doesn't like people with wing...." Anita's eyes widen, she leaves the fork in the pie.

"Um... Ryan, I don't mean ta alarm ya, but there is uh... a critter on yer back. Pretty small, next ta yer left wing."

Ryan feels something brush his wing as it moves down his back, and into the booth seat next to him.

It's a little... humanoid. Brown, wrinkled skin, bulbous nose, big ears, gnarled hands, dirty brown clothing.

I'm stuck in a bad fairy tale. "Hello," he said, looking at the little... creature uncertainly.

The creature points at the pie.

Anita casually slips her knife into her hand... just in case. She doesn't make any threatening moves.

Ryan couldn't help smile a little. He picked up one of the little bread dishes and, obligingly, scooped some of the pie onto it. It wasn't a big portion, but then again, this guy didn't look like its stomach could be very big. "What do you think, is that going to be enough?"

The critter devours the offered food at an impressive rate. Then it scuttles down under the seat.

"Not a whole lot," Ryan admitted. "I never really paid much attention to british fairy tale critters. I think that was..." he thought, trying to remember some obscure fact that he'd barely paid attention to the first time. "A boggart? No, wait, that's a Harry Potter thing. A brownie. That's it, I think."
