"Yes, but you didn't hit anything, and some things are much more... fun when you aren't expecting them," she smirked, checking herself in the visor mirror briefly. "So... this is the guy who can redo my tattoo?"

Constantine led Victoria down a sidestreet and then into an alleyway, where he stopped outside an unmarked rusting metal door. It had an battered looking intercom beside it and with a very well concealed camera mounted above the door.

Con buzzed twice, waited, then buzzed again. About a minute later there was a click, and he pulled the door open, exposing a dingy looking flight of stairs.

"Don't let appearances decieve you." Con said, heading inside.

"I'm just taking your word that this is a place you'd get yourself inked. And that you like your tattoos uninfected," she said, following him up the stairs.

At the top of the stairs was another rough looking door. The other side of it was another story however. The inside of the door and the small waiting room beyond it, were obviously kept scrupulously clean and well maintained.

"It is. I do." Con smiled as he waved her inside. "He knows we're here, he should be right out. There was another door opposite the one they'd come in through, presumably leading to the studio proper.

"It's supposed to make you skeptical. Too many fucking airheads wanting their butterflies done by a mutant. Or at least so I'm told." Con replied, just as the door open.

The man that stepped out looked to be in his early thirties. Dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, again scrupulously clean, he was covered in ink, full sleeves, full neck and his bald head being the visible ones. "Damn straight they do." he said, running a professional eye over Victoria as he extended his hand to her. "Eric Shenk. Constantine tells me you're looking to have some work done?"

Victoria gave Eric an appraising look, and evidently decided that she approved. "yes, I am," she said. She'd worn a top that tied across the back with thin strings, leaving the back completely visible. "He said you can remove the tattoo. If you can, then fine. We can start from scratch. Same theme, black rose and barbed wire. I'm not too particular about the patern of the barbed wire... just make it thin, almost delicate looking, and some partern that you could continue over my whole body eventually. Ideally, I'd like this to be a full-body piece with black roses worked in every so often."

"I don't believe so, but an experiment might be wise, before we start in earnest. I'd suggest removing a fraction of the stem, and if that poses no problem then I'd do a sample of wire for you, perhaps on your arm."

"Relax, keep still unless I ask you to move and try to enjoy yourself. I've cleared the rest of the afternoon for you, Constantine implied it might be a big piece."

Con smirked slightly, he'd actually asked for the whole afternoon as a personal favor, but if Erik wanted to play it that way he wasn't going to argue.

Victoria settled herself in on the chair, waiting to see what happened. All in all, she was looking forward to this. Tattoos, to her, were very fun.

Con took a seat in the 'spectators' chair, interested in getting a different perspective on Erik's work.

Erik placed one hand on Rachel's back briefly, she'd feel a slight localised warmth, nothing more.

"Ok, there's no problem with the removal. Are you happy for me to work on your arm as you are or would you prefer a different position?"

"Ok." Erik wheeled the trolly containing his machine over and fitted a fresh needle.

"On a piece like this, I usually work a little differently to most, given my gift. I'd like to put a trial piece of wire here." He indicated a position on her arm. "where it's easy for you to see. If you're happy with it, all well and good. If not, I'll tweak it until you are. That's a freebie, however long it takes, and I'll remove once I've started on your back."

Erik set to work, proping up Vicki's forearm to ensure stability. He'd considered putting the demonstration piece on her upper arm, but with the additional complexity had decided her forearm would be easier to work with.

Sometime later, he put the business end of the machine down, having made his finishing touches. A length of barbed wire was wrapped around Victoria's arm, on closer inspection actually 3 lengths, all in slightly different styles. The actual style of wire in each was a fraction different, though all as thin as she'd requested, and one was bloodied, one piercing her skin and one that had both.

He ran a hand down her arm, again infusing it with gentle warmth, setting the patterns.

"Take a moment, I'll be right back."

Victoria looked at the work, tracing her finger along one of the wires. "You were right. He does do good work," she said appreciatively.

"Marvelous idea," she said, resuming her position in the chair. She indicated the barbed wire she liked, then indicated that she wanted the center of the design to start above her shoulderblade. "I'd rather it not look symetric over my body."

"And the rose? Do you want that redone too?" Erik asked. He ran his fingers over two patterns that weren't going to be used, and Victoria would feel that faint warmth again as they disappeared under his touch.

"I'll remove that one when we've finished today."

"If you think you can work it into the patern whenever we get that far, then just leave it," she said dismissively. "And yes... the black rose at the center. After this one, I'll leave it to you where you think adding other roses would look good. You're the artist, not me."

"Ah, you wanted more didn't you. On it's own I could work it in, but I think we'd both rather they all had the same style. Alright." Picking up the tool again he continued "If you'll loosen your top for me I'll get started. "Just let me know when you've had enough for today."

He had quite a bit of time to work. Victoria was a good subject, in that she didn't have any of the normal pain-induced responses to being tattooed. Finally, when the better part of her upper back was finished, Victoria said that that was enough.
