The Breakfast Nook

Postby Anita Fernandez » Thu Mar 05, 2009 1:56 am

A quaint little restaurant, by design, not age. Still, you can get a good plate of breakfast, all day long. And other things too, of course.

Anita heads in and tells the waitress that they need a table for four.

Kelly sat at the table next to Marcus, across from Anita, and farthest away from Ryan. He ordered some water, orange juice, and oatmeal when the waitress took their orders. Remain silent mostly he let the other do the talking.

Ryan looked over the menu, then ordered a rather sizeable, high-protein meal, with sides of bacon and sausage, before handing the waitress the menu and saying to put all the orders on one tab.

"Not at all. The food seems like it'll be pretty good." He mentioned after ordering some eggs and bacon himself. "So, how's every liking XU so far?"

"I'm liking it," Ryan said. "Past couple years at Columbia have been okay, but you don't realize how much you miss a place like this until you're back at it full time."

Juma lags in a little behind the group, after having stopped at a newstand to grab a few international newspapers. He grabs the first free seat, not particularly caring who it is closest to or furthest from, and orders his usual breakfast options; eggs over easy with lots of meats on the side.

"Juma! I'm glad you made it." I knew we should have waited longer. Kelly ignored Marcus' question becuase so far he seemed to be still be able to socially ruin himself.

He smiles and waves it off, "I wanted to see what's going on around the equator anyway. Have you dried out yet, Kelly?"

Marcus just listened to the others at the moment. Glad to hear they were enjoying the area too hear most were enjoying the area.

He looked at Juma. "So Juma. What were you up to after you graduated?"

"I went on a spirit walk, of sorts. Filled a backpack and started walking, hitchhiking, whatever, and traveled around for a while. I tried to make my way back home, but somehow the path never seemed to lead all the way there," he pauses, then shakes his head, "I am still trying to figure out what that means. I think it is a sign that I am not yet ready to help, which is why I came here."

He smiles sincerely, "Thank you Ryan, I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to when we have more autonomy on the teams, I am very interested in returning to Uganda with friends and the ability to help make things better."

Ryan looked thoughtful as he took a drink of his orange juice. "Homecomings aren't always as simple as that, though," he pointed out.

He smiles to Marcus and nods, "I am working on it, though it is hard. I may well wind up swimming down instead," he laughs. As Ryan speaks up, his expression becomes much more sober, "Yes. I do not know what has happened since I left, and I fear for the worst. I haven't seen my village appear in the news, but it never really did. I hope things are still.. okay."

Ryan paused, his mind going over some of the more... 'choice' incidents of the past few years. He shook his head. "You know me... go everywhere, post all the good parts for the world to read. My life's been sort of an open book."

"I don't mind mind helping you out if you need it too Juma." He grinned while he listened to the others. He thought about his life before reaching London. It was pretty tame. He had some training but it wasn't with anyone as noteable as Logan.

"It would of been awesome training with him."
