In the company of freaks.

[David Hollifield]

David is recently off work, and hanging out with a group of other obvious mutants outside of a bakery. Sitting with him is a young man with tusks jutting out of his lower jaw, a girl with talon-like hands and trails of scales running along her skin. The girl is leaning against the aforementioned young man. Finally there's another young man who's body seems to be not flesh at all, he's bronze colored all over, gleaming with a not quite metallic sheen.

They're all eating some biscuits, and enjoying light conversation.

[Kyra Raphael]

"Hey David." Kyra said, approaching the group.

[David Hollifield]

"Hey!" David smiles, and pulls up a chair for Kyra. "Everybody, this is Kyra. Kyra, this is Steve, Aggie, and Steel Tom." He points to the tusked guy, the girl, and the bronze guy in turn.

[Kyra Raphael]

"Nice to meet you." Kyra said with a sincere smile "Um, David I kinda need to talk to you in private, but if you're busy with your friends we an do that later."

[David Hollifield]

Steel Tom says, "Uh oh."

David gives him a wry look and says, "Sod off, Tom." He stands up, and waves to his friends, then leads Kyra off to the side a little.

"What's up?"

[Kyra Raphael]

"Um." Kyra said nervously, then thinking it best to do it quickly said "I think we should break up."

[David Hollifield]

David considers this. "We were dating?"

[Kyra Raphael]

"I think we were." Kyra replied, somewhat non-plussed "We went places, and we had sex. But...whatever it was we were doing, we can't do it anymore."

[David Hollifield]

"Well, I mean, we were sort of on our way to dating, but we hadn't really gotten there yet."

"I mean... what's this all about? Have we not been seeing each other often enough? I'm pretty busy with work and school, but I could make some more time for you."

He touches Kyra lightly on the cheek. "I like you, you're fun to be around, and interesting, and oh yeah, beautiful." He grins.

[Kyra Raphael]

"Thanks." Kyra replied "And really, it isn't you. You've been great. Its just...things are complicated for me right now."

[David Hollifield]

"Is it that other guy? The one that attacked me?"

[Kyra Raphael]

"Yeah." Kyra replied "I'm sorry. I'm not with him. Its just.....it just sort of happened. Look I don't know what I want right now, and you deserve not to be jerked around."

[David Hollifield]

"I don't think you were jerking me around. Like I said, we hadn't really become a steady couple yet. Are you saying that if I had tickets to a local ballet, you wouldn't want to go with me?"

[Kyra Raphael]

"I'm saying that wouldn't be a good thing for me to do right now." Kyra said, sounding a bit regretful, but resolved. "I'm sorry."

[David Hollifield]

David shakes his head. "Alright, that's it then. Sorry that's the way it had to go."

[Kyra Raphael]

"Yeah, me too." Kyra said as she floated up into the air and flew away.
