May 7th: In the Hotel

[Will Stanton]

"We should probably get Professors Bowen or McManus to take a look at her, or Dr. Crusher or someone, but she seems happy, so hey!"

[Sara Stanton]

"Oh we will. Just not today. I mean, what are they going to tell us? She's obviously shifting..."

[Will Stanton]

"And that's awesome," Will said, and then there was a nother slosh and a thump.

[Sara Stanton]

"What are you doing in there?"

[Will Stanton]

"Trying to get out there..."

[Sara Stanton]

Sara picks Robin up again and goes to see how Will's doing.

[Will Stanton]

This is very much a good-news, bad-news sort of situation.

First, the good news! Will's skin doesn't seem nearly as cracked and brittle, and in fact (though this might not be readily apparent just from looking at it) was again mallable, although with significant effort. Also, the nails weren't sticking out anymore!


.... because the water had caused him to swell such that the outer limit of the clay had reached the nailheads.

[Sara Stanton]

"That's... a little better, I guess."

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah, it's working out..."

[Sara Stanton]

"Except for the nails..."

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah, they're kinda itchy."

[Sara Stanton]

"Want me to try and see if I can get them out?" she asks, sounding like someone imagining nails being stuck in you, even if she knows Will is probably saying that truth about them just itching.

[Will Stanton]

"If you could, please. I'll figure out how to get 'em out eventually, but sometimes the direct way is the best way

[Sara Stanton]

"Well I never know just how vulnerable you're being at any given time..." she says as her hand shifts into a bit of makeshift pliers and she starts fiddling with the nails.

[Will Stanton]

"Ooooooooooooooh" Will said as a 12 inch, barbed, carpenter's nail was pulled out, keeping a little tiny bit of clay on it from the barbs.

[Sara Stanton]

Sara winces as the thing comes out.

"And you sure this doesn't hurt?"

[Will Stanton]

"Positively. No more than having them in, at the very least--uncomfortable, YES. Painful, not particularly."

[Sara Stanton]

"If you say so..." she frowns slightly and continues de-nailing Will.

[Will Stanton]

And, slowly, Will began to look like a piece of swiss cheese, as the nails (and glass, and tacks, and stuff) each took a bit of clay with the, but at least he was no longer jagged and pointy!

[Sara Stanton]

Meanwhile Sara was mumbling to herself. "No Sara, she's just a little weird. Why are you freaking out? I told you she was batshit crazy but did anybody listen to me?"

[Will Stanton]

"Yeah. You were right, and I apologiiii-aye-aye-aye--iiiize," Will said, as Sara pulled out another tack.

[Sara Stanton]

"Not just you... Everyone said she was just a little weird. Now look what happened."

[Will Stanton]

"Something happened to her, somewhere along the line..."
