"SHUT! UP!" the man roared, suddenly blurring with impossible speed as a whirlwind like blast hit Bear, "Those are mine!"

Ryan didn't even think about hesitating. Power streamed from his body, streaking right for the man from both sides. "Yeah, I'm the one who likes a peaceful solution, but you keep your hands and powers off her. Now... we going to settle down or are you going to prove that you haven't thought this through?"

Bear took the unexpected blast full force, hitting a wall and getting the wind knocked out of her for a few moments.

"Uggh.."

The man disappeared from sight for a moment and suddenly he had a hostage in his hands.

"Another step and this woman is all over the goddamn room!" The man shouts, his hands starting to twitch wildly.

"Whoa whoa whoa pal, slow down." Simon said, trying to remain calm. "We're the good guys here, we save the day and all that jazz. Now listen to yourself. You're threatening an innocent person's life without even explaining things to us! I think we've been pretty good with giving you a chance now why can't you do the same for us?"

Bear staggered to her feet, holding her hands out to show she was unarmed.

"Please, calm down and explain!"

Stephanie put her hands up as well, shifting to her far less intimidating feral human form. "Easy..." she said when he grabbed the woman hostage. "No one needs to get hurt here,"

The man was breathing heavily, looking crazed. The woman was crying, looking terrified.

And then he dropped her sinking to the floor, sobbing, "So long....longer then you think..."

Stephanie approached him cautiously, crouching down next to him as she shifted to her fully human form, putting herself in between the man and the hostages, but mostly appearing to offer some support.

Ryan made a gesture, indicating for Bear to take care of the hostages while he approached the man himself. "What's so long?" he asked, his voice much less harsh now.

Bear began tending to the hostages, working to get them out of the zone of conflict unnoticed while Ryan did his thing.

Ryan looked back at Simon and Stephanie. "Simon, radio base, we need a pickup. Steph, give some advance warning to the police. Tell them this is a class 2 superhuman threat, it's neutralized, and we're from the closest designated detention center rated to hold one. No need to have them get into a pissing match with us when the pickup gets here or decide to storm the building or something."

"You've got it boss." Simon said. He stepped away from Ryan and the others but didn't turn his back on them, speaking into his comm.

"Intel from Enkidu, requesting secure pickup for a class two superhuman for containment and questioning at the nearest detention center."

Steph nodded, rising and walking away from the man and Ryan, fiddling with her communicator to reach the number one of the detectives outside had given them. She informed him that they'd been successful, and that they would be taking the prisoner back to Xaviers.

Feeling relief as well, Bear began leading the hostages out of the area, down the stairs to the ground floor.
