"Can't see why," Victoria said, resuming her lounging. "If you don't want to watch the gladiators, don't go in there, and if you're opposed to music, don't go in there... and if you love food, don't leave this room. By the by, try these, they're divine." All the food was, apropriately, pre-portioned rather artfully, and the portions were small to encourage diversifying the plate.
"You're right." Chloe said, "I haven't heard of it. Still" she said, wrapping a possessive arm around Simon "I'm sure that Simon can handle himself. And its only for a short time."
Simon hugged Chloe gently, kissing the top of her head lightly. He didn't do it to try and get the point across to Elizabeth about his relationship with Chloe, he was just very happy that she was safe and sound after having been injured during the incident with the Roman soldiers.
"Still," Victoria mused, once again toying with Serena's hair as they lounged by the table, "I don't think the girls would mind if she came to keep Simon company once in a while on boring nights. Do you, dear?"
"In all seriousness, Victoria, this is a lot...nicer that I thought it would be. The food is top-of-the-line, and what little I can hear of the music is excellent.
"Of course you do," Victoria answered. "However, if we don't leave our comfort zone once in a while, we never live." She leaned back, reaching up to accept another glass of wine from her closest muscly manservant. "And we don't want people to ever accuse us of not living."
Victoria leaned her head back to look up at the muscly manservant. "The gentleman would like a flowing gown. Go." The manservant, obediently, started for the entrance again.
The music was nice, but the sound of other voices in the other room brought Meg back. She was a bit surprised to find just how many people had arrived in the interim. With a salute of her goblet, she settled on to a lounging cushion.
"Yes," Victoria answered Will, intentionally enigmatically. "We are, after all, in the British Isles, where you can't walk ten feet without tripping over something historic or significant."
