May 15th, Stamford Bridge: Serbia v. Latveria

Postby Narrator » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:51 pm

Doom was set. The teams were set. A big matchup between local rivals.

Excalibur was again on DoomWatch, but they at least got to watch the game in the big executive suite.

Tickets were relatively hard to come by, but I'm sure Victoria and Lei could figure something out--they were quite resourceful.

The national anthems were played, first of Latveria, and then of Serbia.

From a Football stance, Latveria and Serbia were two of the top teams in the world, promising an exciting match.

From a geopolitical stance, Latveira and Serbia were bitter enemies, sharing a border, so there was always the chance of fireworks.

From a Doomwatch stance--who KNOWS what he was up to?

Doom sat, waiting for the match to begin, occasionally reaching up to pet the monkey that was sitting on the back of his chair.

Ronnie was in uniform as well, of course. Though she had added a little flare with a Latverian-coloured scarf draped around her neck. She did want his visit to be a happy one, after all.

"Very well, m'Lord." Ronnie said. Sure, it was her job to look after Doom and socializing wasn't a very good form of protection, but she chalked it up to making up for the cold treatment the others gave him.

"That would be lovely Doctor. Thank you." Ronnie was trying to be very polite without being cold. It was kind of difficult though, she felt that between some of her angrier teammates and Doom's unpredictability she was walking on a rather narrow path of eggshells.

Ronnie's face flushed suddenly, but she managed to stay composed.

"Well of course you do, that's a sensible thing to do. I suppose you don't need me to send you a copy then, since you have your own?"

The first half was a quickly paced effort. Gojko Kacar of Serbia knocked home two goals, very early, which would be sure to enrage Doom, but the Latverians had clawed a bit of the the way back, with Fane Vladan scoring off a...shall we say DUBIOUS penalty call.

The Lateverian style was VERY physical, and the Serbians were falling all over the place, but they still held on to a 2-1 lead as the whistle blew at the half.

Ronnie raised an eyebrow, sipping her soda silently. She didn't ask outright what was going on; that's why people whispered. But she was clearly showing an interest.

Ryan, who'd been thinking the same thing, nodded quietly at the girls, then turned toward Doom. "Really, Lord Doom, it would be better if Lionheart went with you. We wouldn't want to neglect our jobs."

Ronnie nodded back softly, slipping her scarf off before ducking out of sight. She dwindled down to a small enough size for Bear to palm easily and returned to the girl, planning to shrink smaller "in flight"; if she was too small the girl might have trouble throwing her properly.

Bear waited for Ryan's distraction to get everyone turned in his direction, and then she quietly flicked her wrist, sending Alice flying softly but surely towards a seam in Doom's armor, just under the cape.

Ronnie dwindled to a size that made her practically invisible as she flew threw the air, a size she couldn't keep for long, but long enough for her to land on her target. Grabbing onto some threads she relaxed and expanded to a more manageable size, hanging on tight for the ride.

Doom, unaware of his passenger, walked out of the box and headed through a door marked "Players and Staff Only." Such signs did not concern, DOOM.

As he walked through the door, he stopped depending so much on the cane, straitening up and walking unsupported as he strode through the back halls.

His aides had gone ahead, and had a car waiting for him outside an ignored, disused service entrance.
