June 13: Hole in the Wall

[Nick Varkan]

Nick's motorcycle pulled up to the curb next to a small curry place.

"I know it looks like a hellhole, but trust me it's awesome," he said to Tala as he removed his helmet.

[Tala Davis]

She removed her helmet and pulled her hair from it's bun, giving her a more "date" look. "Most of the best places do look a little divey. Smell heavenly from here."

[Nick Varkan]

"I know, right?" he grinned as he dismounted.

[Tala Davis]

"Smells just right too. Not too much curry to kill the smells of everything else. Good choice." She slipped off the back and shouldered her purse.

[Nick Varkan]

"I'll win that award yet," he smirked as he offered her his arm.

[Tala Davis]

"It does come with cookies of your choice or brownies, if you prefer." She followed him into the place, glad she didn't dress "up".

Thankfully the place appeared less divey on the inside. The decor, if one could truly call it that, was a rather haphazardly arranged fusion of British and Indian influences. There was no real waitstaff to speak of save an Indian woman behind the counter, currently calling an order back to a cook who looked almost suspiciously like Ben Kingsley.

"Tell me that guy doesn't look almost suspiciously like Ben Kingsley?" Nick asked Tala quietly.

I know, right?

[Tala Davis]

"Even world famous actors need to pay their bills in between award winning movies?" She shrugged and smiled.

[Nick Varkan]

"That or research for his supporting role in Tales of a Bankside Curry Vendor."

[Tala Davis]

"A hot and spicy tale of veggies and sometimes chicken." She chuckled.

[Nick Varkan]

After ordering at the counter, Nick led Tala to a booth.

"The wait wasn't too long last time I was here."

[Tala Davis]

"That's were the charming company comes in." She settled in across from him and smiled.

[Nick Varkan]

"One can never have too much of that," he smiled back.

[Tala Davis]

"So, what have you been up to all weekend?" She asked as their drinks arrived.

[Nick Varkan]

"Chilling out to Hendrix, working at Bobby's garage, stopping evil doubles from another dimension from murdering thousands...You know, the usual."

[Tala Davis]

"Ah, so you were there and no trip to the infirmary?"

[Nick Varkan]

"There were some close calls, but I made it through okay."

[Tala Davis]

"I am impressed. I'm glad you came out alright." She smiled.

"It would have been a shame if our first date had been over lame pudding and cold noodle soup."

[Nick Varkan]

"Ugh, yeah. I've spent enough time in there to last a lifetime."

[Tala Davis]

"I rather like you with all your limbs anyway."

[Nick Varkan]

"I'm rather attached to them myself."

[Tala Davis]

"Good to know. So, what's the plan for tonight?"

[Nick Varkan]

"I thought we'd go for the old dinner and a movie thing and then... Well I have an idea you might like."

[Tala Davis]

"Good food and a surprise. Looks like it'll be a good night."

[Nick Varkan]

"Number 92, your order is ready," the woman behind the counter announced.

"That's us. So I'll be right back."

[Tala Davis]

Tala rummaged in her purse and pulled out a mirror and did a quick fix of her hair and makeup. She even managed to checked her phone while she was at it. Nothing new.

[Nick Varkan]

He returned, floating the plates to the table as he sat.

"Dig in."

[Tala Davis]

She tucked her phone away, "Smells heavenly and you're a show off." She chuckled and gave him a wink.

[Nick Varkan]

"With a power this handy I'd be stupid not to take advantage of it."

[Tala Davis]

"It beats burns on the arms."

[Nick Varkan]

"Most things do."
