She reached out to take the glass from him and sipped some of the water. "Thank you. So, how have you been anyway? I really..haven't talked to you much."

She remembered only the little things that John had mentioned about that. "Just how have you been dealing with it?" She asked, hoping whatever reflection John may have been doing...hasn't been too painful. Hopefully, no where near as negative as her own.

"That's great. I really hope he's able to help you figure stuff out," Kaylee said with a smile, placing her hand on John's leg. "Also, now that I'm back, if you need any support from me you've got it."

"I..um.." She stammered, not exactly sure where to begin. "I got really scared. My power was freaking out..and me falling ill. It sort of reminded me back when my mutation first started. I was pretty scared to do anything...or touch anyone. I lived in fear for years afterwards. I hurt a lot of people and while I'm sure being here might be a safer place for my power to possibly go crazy...I just didn't want to risk it."

"No kidding. I don't exactly like my code name but it kind fits...for all that happened." She looked down at the floor. "It took forever to get my power under control. I mean..that big ol' blob of ooze I turn into when I'm fighting? That was me everyday for about a year afterwards." She laughed a little. "It was pretty disgusting...I really can't help but feel that way about myself sometimes."

Kaylee stared back into John's, a red tint engulfing her entire face. She looked away from him shyly. "Well, after you see yourself looking like you just crawled out of a living tar pit...it kind of makes you wonder."

She swung around, climbing up and straddling John's lap. She let her arms drape over his shoulders as she placed a soft kiss to his lips.

"Considering that in the future, we're been together for awhile, I think I'd have to agree." She lifted a hand to John's cheek, stroking her thumb over it.
