I8: People still use those?

Postby Sean Hall » Tue Aug 30, 2011 10:31 pm

Sean stood in the danger room wearing full fencing gear all three swords sitting on the ground next to him. He was fiddling with settings before settling on something somewhat typical.

The computer generated an opponent for him to fence against. Sean picked up his saber and the simulation began.

"Not bad, but your form needs work," said a voice from the observation deck.

Kevin had somewhat surprised Sean who turned earning the computer a point.

"Computer pause progam," Sean said pulling off his mask, "Saber has always been my weakest weapon, prefer the epee. Or it could be that it's been a while since I last practiced."

Sean smirked up at the observation deck.

"Only way to get better is to spar with people better than you," Sean said, "And these... golems don't quite act like real people do."

Sean chuckled softly while he waited and picked up his epee.

"Not too many fencers at the school I take it?" Sean asked with a smile.

"Hopefully those things aren't the only thing you've been practicing with," Sean said with a smile while pointing at the paused computer generated fencer.

"Nightcrawler gave me some lessons. Between that and the superhero gig I get my share of practice in the cutting and the en garde and the julienning."

"Hopefully you aren't planning to bringing a kitchen knife to a sword fight," Sean smirked and saluted Kevin. "Practical experience is always a plus outside of the ring."

"Now that on the other hand would be considered cheating," Sean chuckled, "Impressive but still cheating and also explains why you're a fencer."

He dismissed the blade.

"Yeah, it does wonders for the power control. Well, that and it makes me feel like a swashbuckling pirate who may or may not be left handed."

"I take it that means you've retired from the pirate business then? Or did you set your sights on continued piracy with the lady at your side?" Sean asked.

"Good," Sean said pulling his mask back onto his head. He practiced some very quick movements with his epee then saluted Kevin before dropping into a ready position.

Kevin donned his mask and chose a sword from the rack, testing it with a skilled flouring before dropping into a ready position as well.

"En Garde and so on."

"Allez!" Sean said lunging aggressively with his first move. He was actually quite fast, but a little rusty.

He parried fluidly, on the lookout for a feint as he countered.

The feint didn't come but Sean managed to parry the counter just not quite as fluidly as Kevin had. He began backing out of his lunge his blade dragging his blade along Kevin's to keep him to the outside as he retreated.

Sean's warm up and this new match had apparently gotten him a bit more into the mindset he needed. Though apparently he wasn't completely up to snuff as he use In quartata to avoid the feint and was forced to use neuvieme to block his now more exposed back. This put him in a somewhat inconvenient position where Kevin was stopped but Sean was open to a second attack. However, it had certainly looked impressive.

"So that wasn't hot air when you said you were good," Sean said.

And Kevin scored a touch on the vulnerable Sean. Sean raised his arm to announce the fact.

"Touché," Sean said separating from Kevin and returning to the start position, "At least the quips are getting better."

"Cooking, sword fighting, clever word play and piracy. No wonder you got the girl."

Sean dropped into en garde.
