"Hey," Derek said as he came in to take a breather. "Didn't you get off a while ago?"

Derek nodded, then frowned a little. "Everything ok?" he asked as he cracked open his soda.

Derek winced. "Ah, geez... did he read it? He didn't show anyone, did he? Because that's just a total douchebag move if he did."

"He didn't show anyone, but he read it." Isabel said "Which is bad enough."

Derek winced. "Yeah, but... well, at least it was just him? I mean, he didn't read it cover to cover, did he?" he asked.

Derek winced again. "Well... your best bet? Just act like there's nothing wrong. Then he'll be more likely to forget about it, and no one will end up asking what's wrong and asking him what was in it, you know?"

"Probably not. Or else people would just feel weird reading it or thinking about it," he said. "Aiden'd probably just as soon forget what he read, too. Makes things too awkward for everyone, you know?"

"Yeah, you're probably right." Isabel said "I should stop hiding out."

"Definitely. Just go do what you'd do, and if anyone says anything to you, and I don't think they will, you just remember that they're the ones who are wrong for going through your private thoughts or talking about them. Call them on that."

"Yeah." Isabel said "I know I'm being dumb but well, a lot of it was about this guy that I'm in love with. And I don't want him to find out."

Derek winced. "Well, if you have it back now, if he ends up finding out about it just deny it. Say that they just made it up to embarrass you. Probably won't happen, though."

"Yeah." Isabel said "He's really loyal to his girl, so, yeah. He'd probably just laugh it off."

"See? It'll be okay, I promise. And if it comes down to it, just tell me who's giving you grief and I'll go make 'em stop, okay?"
