Meanwhile there was a faint metallic scuffle somewhere in the ceiling and a bit later one of Binary's old security probes crawled from the air duct.

"I think we're being watched," Gideon said.

The probe didn't seem to have any particular interest in the two of them. At least not exclusively. It was scanning the room and the furniture just as much as them.

In reality, he was attempting to enter the probe.

There was a LOT of resistance. Almost as if the probe was being remote-controlled by the processing power of an entire server rack. Which it was.
