Zach was happy that most of classes were in the afternoon. It meant he actually got to sleep in a little and also grab breakfast without feeling he needed to rush off somewhere shortly afterward. He already finished his food and pushed his tray to the side. He was reading through a chapter of a book that was already assigned in one of his classes.

Rick had picked out a few (mostly tradition English) things to eat for breakfast before heading to the Zach's table. "Hey, care if I sit here?"

"Not at all my friend." He said, lifting his head to peer over the top of the book at Rick before his head sinking back down.

"How's school treating you?"

"It's all going well. I wasn't expecting so much work right off the bat. It's good though. Least I feel like I'm being productive."

"They're good. I don't think there's anything to really dislike about any of them. Also.." He thought about whether he should say what he was about to but decided against it. "Never mind."

"Are you liking yours?"

"I guess so. None of them seem particularly ornery, but I also don't have much to compare them to yet. This your first year, or did you transfer?"

"Yep. It's my first year. I thought I'd take a nice large step forward in life. Starting college, moving away from home and all. I kind of miss it though. I feel like I shouldn't be in school and off investigating something."

"Eh, I don't miss my family too much. But southwestern Alberta's beautiful. I do miss that."

"Canada huh? So you're the second Canadian I've met." He smiled but tilted his head, unable to help but ask about the family thing. "I thought most people tended to miss their family. Are things not going well?"

"You could say that. Neither of my 'rents care for me being a mutant. Or that I'm dating a guy for that matter," he said with a smirk. "My sister's really cool though."

"Yay for being a double minority huh?" He drank some of his soda. "It's too bad people can't learn to be more accepting overall. People would have so many less problems in life."
