Sept 16th-Lunch

Rachel got a large salad and sat down at an empty table, and then pulled a book from her back back and started to read.

Ryan was only eating a light lunch today, with a hamburger and two large bowls of beef stew on his tray as he headed over from the lunch line. He also looked like he hadn't particularly enjoyed the morning... or stayed awake for it. "Hey. Anyone sitting here?" he asked as he walked up to the seat across from Rachel.

"Have a seat." Rachel said, waving at him "You look like hell, dude. Who kept you up too late, Anita or Zoe?"

Ryan rolled his eyes. "Neither. Went back to my room to get my homework out of the way, then got a call from home when I was about to go to bed."

Ryan sighed, nodding. "When I could. And growing up in the Avengers' Mansion isn't exactly a... stress free place. Whenever things would get hairy, I was the one responsible for her."

"She isn't exactly taking well to the change, from what I'm seeing."

"No. But I guess this has been the third night in a row that she's done it, so they ran out of other options. And I can't really tell her that she has to wait until morning because I'm going back to sleep."

Teri enters the dining hall, heads for the food counter and starts heaping food on her plates, not stopping until she has filled three plates as much as humanly possible. Carefully balancing her tray she makes her way to one of the tables, not sure if she should dirupt the conversation going on between Rachel and Ryan.

Ryan shrugged. "Could've been anything. She gets nightmares pretty easily these days," Ryan said, focusing on his food for a moment.

Teri decides on a compromise and sits down at the table next to Ryan and Rachel, giving a them a small nod before she starts digging into her food.

Glacing up at Rachel she smiles back for a second before returning to her usual indifferent expression and returns her attention to her food, being not exactly sophisticated in wolfing it down.

Ryan gave Teri a little wave, too, and managed a tired smile at her. "Yeah, tell me about it. She started picking up people's dreams a couple months ago, as near as we can tell. Try being three years old and picking up on the dreams of people who have seen... Well, they're Avengers, I'm sure you can imagine."

Ryan nodded. "They're looking into it. Ironically, when the did psi-shield it, she freaked out even more. So they're trying to figure out how to be... creative about it."

"Normally I wouldn't suggest this, but have they considered an inhibitor collar. Its pretty extreme, but three." she shook her head "Thats young, especially for a teep."

Ryan shook his head. "Not an option. My parents won't consider it. Besides, if being in a psi-shielded room freaks her out, imagine taking away the voices all the time."

Teri involuntarily listens in on Ryan and Rachel's conversation, her mind buzzing as she wonders what the hell they're talking about while she pokes around in her food.

"Thought you might," he said, smiling a little. He noticed the signs of attention from Teri and glanced over at her. "We don't bite, you know," he said, nodding toward an empty table at their table. "Well, I don't. I can't speak for her so much."

Teri perks up as Ryan addresses her and picks up her tray and joins the other table.
"We didn't mean to interrupt your conversation. We just grew curious at the mention of someone hearing voices. We're Teri." She flashes another one of her lasts-about-a-second smiles.

"So you wouldn't mind us asking about those voices?" She contnues shoveling food into her mouth, despite the fact that she's talking. Whatever politeness she was showing by not butting into the conversation earlier apparently had nothing to do with common courtesy.

Ryan shrugged. "I don't mind, but there's not a lot I can tell. My sister hears voices from people's minds. And sees people's dreams. At least... that's what we can gather from what she says. She's only three, so she isn't exactly a great source of description on the subject."

John began to search for a table as he spoke on his cell phone.

"Yes Mizuki, I'm doing fine. Really."

"Oh come on. I would not."

"Would not."

"Would not."

"Can we not do this?"

"Yeah yeah. Love you too. Bye."

He hung up and pocketed the phone.
