Issue 1 Downtime

Will didn't spend too much time in the Dorm Commons anymore, but the old ping pong table seemed to be calling out for him.

Daniel walked in from the dorms and stopped, looked at the ping pong table, looked at Will, then smirked.

"Hrm?" Will said, looking up.

"Nothing," he said. "Just remembering a story I heard," he said, pointing at a paddle. "Mind if I...?"

"Certainly," Will shrugged, serving.

"So. I owe you a small apology."

"When your house gets burned down, you kind of get exempted from 'told you so's."

"Beside, it's my fault," Daniel admitted as he picked up the paddle.

"Wasn't burned down, thank the good Lord. But yeah.

I encouraged her. Really did."

"Yeah, well..."

"She came to see me a week or two ago. Said she'd taken power inhibitors and handed me a gun, said that if I really thought she was evil to kill her. Kind of wish I'd done it."

"That's not the answer.

But, well, if you had punched her in the face and locked her up, on the other hand..."

"Yeah, well, I was in a big 'you don't get to tell me what to do and I want you out of my room right now' place, so I just told her to fuck off and die. The less I ever see of her again, the better."

"If only, right?"

"Yeah, tell me about it," Daniel sighed. "Ooh, good shot. And I also didn't figure anyone would really buy it if I said I shot her because she was going to turn into a crazy psychopath. Didn't really seem to be a theory that was catching on."

"Well, the day she turned up LOOKING like said crazy psychopath...

...I mean, I think most of us didn't WANT to believe ANYONE would be like their future selves."

Daniel smirked a little. "Dunno, I think the Crazy Ice Queen might not mind."

"I dunno, being that isolated might not be her cup of tea, but I've LONG since stopped trying to figure her out."
