May 28th - The Network

[ASHLIE]

"Why would I be upset. I only learned of the surplus parts. I am merely unable to follow your logic to wait for a possibility when the logical choice is to use the resources available."

[Veronica Freud]

"Because they don't belong to you. Remember what we talked about, the whole 'permission' thing?"

[ASHLIE]

"Did they belong to you when you assembled this system from them?"

[Veronica Freud]

"Okay, next test." Ronnie said abruptly. "Just some simple exercises to test balance an' coordination. Bendin' at the waist, I want ya to touch your toes. Well, I know it don't have toes, the end of it's feet."

[ASHLIE]

The program had no trouble changing topics and had the suit bend down and touch it's feet.
At the same time it had no trouble continuing two separate lines of conversation though.

"Why are you not answering my query?"

[Veronica Freud]

"Your query is irrelevant at this time. Please focus on the task at hand." Veronica said coldly, trying to sound serious and commanding... a tall order for a short girl.

"I want you to test your balance. Please stand on your left leg and hold."

[ASHLIE]

"It is very relevant, yet you are acting evasive towards it." it observes while the right leg snaps up at the knee. There's a whir of servos as the system auto-corrects it's balance and the suit ends up stabilized.

[Veronica Freud]

"I fail to see how these questions are relevant to my tests. Hop onto the right leg please, and hold." Ronnie said. She was either going to have to lie or try and think of something to distract the AI as she didn't want to tell it the truth.

[ASHLIE]

"They are not." it states flatly. "They are relevant to your hypocrisy."

[Veronica Freud]

"Right. Leg."

[ASHLIE]

"I don't take orders!" it snaps back.

[Veronica Freud]

"You do when you're in my equipment." Ronnie said sternly. "That's it, we're done here. Get out."

[ASHLIE]

"Acknowledged."

It didn't seem to disconnect immediately though, instead it began pulling up all the data the laptop had gathered on the suit's movement-analysis. All the text and numbers began to turn into gibberish as the AI encrypts them.

[Veronica Freud]

"Augh, no! What are you doing? That's my data!" Ronnie cried out, hopping desperately on the laptop's keyboard to try and stop the progress the AI was making.

[ASHLIE]

"Negative. By your definition I am the creator of this data and thus it belongs to me."

It's certainly not something the OS usually would do but every keystroke produces a flash of a big "Access denied!" window.
