Aiden chuckled.

"I am always ready for a rematch, Little One," Aiden said stretching out his wings, "The better question is are you?"

"I think so." Chloe said "I've been flying quite a lot the past few days, making sure I don't lose touch with my bird-self."

"Exactly." Chloe said "So you understand how horrible that would be. I don't want it to be like when I was a werewolf, and couldn't turn into a bird at all. And I'm worried that might happen, because at the museum they said that I was probably a deinonychus and they were carnivores, and eating meat messes with my bird shifting, and that is when I'm just going around as a human, and humans don't have to eat meat, and they're fairly certain that raptors were obligate carnivores, although they weren't certain about that. I may have to find out by staying in deinonychus form at the museum for a bit, they were quite keen for me to give it a go, honestly."

Aiden stared at Chloe quietly for a moment.

"Why does eating meat interfere with shifting into a bird?" Aiden asked but didn't give Chloe a chance to answer "Wait, when did you start being able to turn into a dinosaur?"

"A few days ago." Chloe said "And I don't know, it just does. If I eat meat, my shifting is sluggish."

"There is at the very least no reason you have to eat while shifted," Aiden said, "So you could remain a vegetarian."

Chloe shifted and took wing, heading for the stand of pine trees that was their usual half way point.

Aiden could not accelerate quite quickly enough to catch up to Chloe. However, he did manage to not crash into the pine trees.

Coming out of the turn he was perhaps 15 feet behind Chloe quite a distance to close for a big slow lizard.

Aiden managed to catch up just enough to make a true race of it. His head lined up next to Chloe, but he wasn't entirely sure how to pass her or even if he could.

Unfortunately it was too late as they crossed the finish line with Chloe mere inches in front of Aiden.

AIden's head was fortunately more than large enough to be a good chair.

"You would at least have a convenient landing pad if you were to get tired," Aiden said, "You don't sound particularly excited to be able to turn into a dinosaur. Will it not make your time on the teams easier?"

"I am sorry little one, but I find that somewhat hard to imagine," Aiden said, "You are many things but I doubt a monster is ever going to be one of them. It was just your first time, and those sorts of developments can be....difficult at the best of times."

And that was precisely when Melody rounded the corner, still bandaged and bruised from her fight with Chloe just a few days ago. She stopped dead in her tracks, her heart racing as she saw the man-sized dinosaur standing next to a freaking dragon.

"Oh god, she's going to eat me..." she squeaked.

I...I just feel like such a child, and it just escalated and got so ugly, and we both got hurt, and we both hurt Derek, and....I... I'm just so sorry," she said, her face red with embarrassment.
