Re: I10DT: On a tight leash

"At this exact moment I'm quite comfortable with them not seeing me," Gideon said, "I'd like to show them that nobody is lost, that anybody can rise to become a beacon of what's right in this world. Maybe not perfect, but something to look up to. This world doesn't need the Paladin we met, but maybe it needs one all it's own."

Gideon rubbed an old scar on the back of his neck.

"It sounds a bit ridiculous when I actually say it..."

"It's what we were talking about in the Danger Room though, aye? Figuring out who you want to be?"

"We were," Gideon said, "I think I've figured it out, but it sounds rather...unrealistic. Who would trust me on a mission? I have so much blood on my hands that I'm not sure anybody would want me in a danger room session.

Maybe I'll just have to work alone like Paladin did."

"I don't think anybody outside the mutant community views Magneto as anything other than a villain," Gideon said, "But you're right he did build something and maybe I shouldn't care about pleasing everybody so much as trying to repair the damage and possibly leave things better than they were before."

"That's the thing, isn't it? We're none of us quite at ease when we're alone with our thoughts, when we're just churning. We have to do."

"Exactly, doing something has always been better than simply sitting there churning," Gideon said, "Filling the voids in time with physical action rather than introspection. Maybe that's just the way X-Men are wired, eh?"
