I8dT: Mysterious Stranger (Aly and Onyx's Apartment)

[Narrator]

In the late afternoon, there's a knock on the door.

[Alyson Gregory]

Aly opened the door.

[Narrator]

"Hello," an older man greeted Alyson. He had neatly cut golden hair and a thick trimmed beard that was just starting to show a bit of grey. He was broad shouldered and well dressed in a nice suit, looking a bit out of time. One of those people that just seem to have been born in the wrong century. Placing his age was tricky, but he was at least in his early fifties, "Would you happen to be Onyx?"

[Alyson Gregory]

"No, she's not in." Alyson said, shifting into a combat stance "What can I do for you?"

[Narrator]

The man kept a relaxed stance, smiling kindly at Alyson.

"My name is Karl Wittig," the man says, "And...well, I suppose I just wished to meet my daughter."

[Alyson Gregory]

"You have thirty seconds to explain what the fuck you mean by that." Alyson said "Since she doesn't have any family."

[Narrator]

Karl smiles very slightly, "Father would be quite a leap. I have never been there for her."

"Would you prefer unreliable and unknown genetic donor?" Karl asks. His voice is warm, with a slight German accent. Despite his joking tone though, there's a sad note underneath. He sounds almost remorseful.

[Alyson Gregory]

"Keep talking."

[Narrator]

Karl sighs, rubbing the side of his head, "I received a letter about a three weeks ago from an old acquaintance of mine. She told me that we had a daughter."

"Ever since then, I've been trying to track her down," Karl says, "...Apparently, she went through a lot of hardship because of my neglect."

[Alyson Gregory]

"Thats one way of putting it." Alyson said "Do you have any proof?"

[Narrator]

"I have the letter, a rather large report my investigators compiled, and my sincerity," Karl says, "If that is not enough, I suppose I could give you some of my blood or hair."

[Alyson Gregory]

"That would be a start." Alyson said "Also, you're going to submit to a full telepathic scan, to make sure you aren't lying."

[Narrator]

"If that's what is necessary," Karl says, "Do you wish to find someone to leap inside my brain now or do you wish to call me when you are ready for me?"

[Alyson Gregory]

"We'll go to Medical, and get them to call Asters." Alyson said.

[Narrator]

"Who?" Karl asks, looking confused.

[Alyson Gregory]

"One of the school counselors." Isabel said "He's also an Omega level telepath."

[Narrator]

"That must come in handy," Karl says with a smile, "Do you trust me enough to take my rental car there? Or would you prefer to take a cab, miss?"

While he is being fairly nice, there is a note of vague amusement to his voice. Almost condescending.

[Alyson Gregory]

"Its not far." Alyson said "We can walk."

[Narrator]

"Fine by me," Karl says, "It is a rather brisk day out. A walk could do me a world of good."

[Alyson Gregory]

"I agree." Alyson said, pulling out her phone and calling the infirmary and the number for Cassiel's office.
