I8: All thyvexations

[Sean Hall]

Sean was walking outside at an hour most people would think was entirely unreasonable.

[Aria Nyx]

Apparently not that unreasonable since someone seemed to be walking along the path in front of him. Which is weird because he could have sworn the path ahead had been empty just a moment ago. Still, there the figure is, wearing a somewhat oddly cut trenchcoat with a cowl and walking slow enough for Gid to catch up if he chooses to.

[Sean Hall]

Sean rubbed his arms realizing that he might have needed to grab a sweater and began to walk a bit faster, catching up to the man in the trench coat.

Muggle my bloody arse.

[Aria Nyx]

When Gid gets close enough for the figure to hear his steps she turns around. At least it's a woman judging by how the vest and pants fit that the figure is wearing, because low-light or not, the cowl appears to be... well not empty but hard to look into somehow regardless of the angle.

"Shouldn't you be asleep at this hour?" she asks with a bit of amusement in her voice.

[Sean Hall]

"I don't think anybody should be out of their beds at this hour," Sean smiled. "We've all got our reasons though. I needed the fresh air..."

Sean trailed off as if implying the need for a response from the trench coat wearing figure.

[Aria Nyx]

"Why yes, everything has a reason of course. Cause and effect and all that, no?" she says, turning away and walking again. Not fast enough to seem like she's trying to get away, she just doesn't see a reason to stop her stroll just to talk to Sean.

[Sean Hall]

Sean follows now somewhat curious about the mysterious trench coat wearing, cowl wearing stranger.

"Then what's your cause for wandering around campus at the hour of the wolf?" Sean asked.

[Aria Nyx]

"Because this late you don't expect much company. Usually."

[Sean Hall]

"Because this late you don't expect much company. Usually."

"Usually," Sean said, "There's nothing usual about this school though."

[Aria Nyx]

"Oh absolutely not. Nothing quite like it."

[Sean Hall]

"From what I've heard there are at least two other places very similar to it," Sean said, "The Academy of Tomorrow and Xavier's Institute. Two more focal points for strange things in this world, which is likely why somebody dressed in a trechcoat wandering around at night doesn't draw more attention."

[Aria Nyx]

"You'd know a bit about focal points, wouldn't you?"

[Sean Hall]

"I pretend to be an artist, so one would sincerely hope so," Sean smiled.

[Aria Nyx]

"You're a clever one, aren't you." she chuckles.

[Sean Hall]

"Quite," Sean said, "Focal points an interest of yours?"

[Aria Nyx]

"Not the ones you're interested in. Unless you're still clinging to the artist thing."

They haven't been walking for all that long but the Quad isn't that huge and it feels like they should have passed the central plaza by now. Yet somehow it's still up ahead.

[Sean Hall]

"Art needs not be paint, charcoal or bronze," Sean said as he more or less opened his senses to the flow of magic around them.

[Aria Nyx]

"Oh now you're just harping on technicalities. Where's the fun in that."

The flow of magic around them is perfectly fine and undisturbed. Well except whatever disturbance Sean's presence might cause or not.

[Sean Hall]

Sean's curiosity was piqued when he could feel only his own magical energy flowing around them. He took some solace in that. Fighting another mage was not high on his agenda.

"They say that artists should be subtle," Sean said, "And that mages should speak in riddles. I simply try to live up the expectations of others."

[Aria Nyx]

"Now where have I heard that one before. Spare me please."

Meanwhile the main gate is coming up ahead of them. Did they take a turn somewhere? They must have seeing how they're walking in a completely different direction now.

[Sean Hall]

"Spare you the riddles?" Sean asked, "Yet you hide your identity."

[Aria Nyx]

"Bit hypocritical, isn't it. But hey, we've all got our reasons." she laughs.

[Sean Hall]

Sean looked at the gate and cocked an eyebrow.

"We do," Sean smiled. "Whatever you're doing is certainly a bit strange. I could have sworn we were going the other way."

[Aria Nyx]

"Why would we be going the other way when I'm headed off?" she asks, stopping in front of the gates and turning around towards Sean.

[Sean Hall]

Sean looks at where he assumes the figures face is in the darkness of the cowl searching for the figures eyes.

"Depends on if you can fly or not," Sean said, "You already got what you came for then? Never to return?"

[Aria Nyx]

"Never is such a relative word. Just like 'impossible' wouldn't you agree?" he can't see it but he can definitely hear the smirk in her voice.

And then she's gone. One moment she's there, the next Sean's looking at thin air.

[Sean Hall]

"One could almost call that magic," Sean chuckled to himself then began walking back towards the dorms.
