May 18th - Infirmary

[Samantha McManus]

Samantha gave a squeeze back.

"We're going to make it through this, love."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Would be a shame to give up now, right?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye. Besides, I don't think either of us doubts the other by now."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I never doubted you, Sam."

[Samantha McManus]

"And I want to make sure you never feel you need to."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I was going to ask why I even should but I guess we all have reason to be a little paranoid right now..."

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye. Even lies can linger a bit."

[Nailah Weaver]

Nailah is quiet for a while, trying not to think about what happened. She isn't too successful.


"How... how close did she get?"

[Samantha McManus]

Samantha didn't quite catch the meaning, looking confused.

"To what?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"You know... 'winning'." she says quietly.

[Samantha McManus]

Samantha sighed, closing her eyes.

"Too close."

[Nailah Weaver]

At that Nailah reaches over and pulls Sam into a hug.

[Samantha McManus]

Samantha returned the embrace, just a bit of a shudder going through her.

"That... that was a sensation I never wanted her to make me feel again, let alone what she did to you."

[Nailah Weaver]

"It's a horrible feeling..." she nods, carefully putting a hand on Sam's head.

[Samantha McManus]

"The way she sees anyone but herself, it's just horrifying."

[Nailah Weaver]

"She's a monster. Actually... no. She's worse, because she's real and used to be a human once..."

[Samantha McManus]

"At least now she's where she belongs."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Maybe it was worth it just for that. At least now she won't hurt anybody else."

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye, and we just... pick up the pieces."

[Nailah Weaver]

"It'll be alright. It'll be alright..."
