[Bobby Bowen]

A few hours later, Bobby would find himself sitting in a booth in the rear, away from anyone else.

It seemed he couldn't even find the strength to touch the quad of shots situated in front of him, as they hadn't been touched for over an hour.

As he sat there, eventually, a little blue bird perched on the seat across the table from him, regarding him curiously.

[Bobby Bowen]

Bobby glanced, up, his brassy blue eyes looking at the new arrival for a moment before returning to the whiskey shots.

And then the little bird hopped down, turning into the petite girl with blue hair on her way down to the chair. She put her chin in her hand with her elbow on the table, looking at the shot along with him. "Does it taste better after you look at it a while? Because I heard that sometimes if you wait a while before eating something it tastes a lot better than if you just gobble it right up, maybe it works for drinks too, is that it?"

Bobby's eyes went back up to her, this time widening a little when he saw she was just wearing a little blue bikini. But soon, they went back to the shots.

"They taste the same. Nothing ever changes."

[Lucy Grant]

"Oh," she said, regarding the shot again. "Well... aren't you going to drink it, then?" she asked, looking back up with that cute innocent look.

[Bobby Bowen]

"I don't know.. Probably."

It was pretty obvious Bobby was hella depressed.

"I guess I just don't feel like it right now."

[Lucy Grant]

"Oh," she said, looking down at the shot, then back up at him again. "Well... do you want something else? Is that what's wrong? I can get you something else!"

[Bobby Bowen]

"Not unless you can pull a 'get out of dumping free' card out of your bikini." He said, managing a small smile.

[Lucy Grant]

Lucy's face fell. "Oh no! That's... that's just mean! You want me to shank 'er for you?" She paused for a minute. "Is that what I'm supposed to say? I don't think I have a shank, though. I might have a pocketknife somewhere, though... oh, yeah, I do," she said, rummaging around next to her below the level of the table.

[Bobby Bowen]

"How do you have a pocketknife with you.. Wait, I don't want to know."

Bobby smirked a little, looking back at Lucy.

"Anyway, I guess technically I was the one who did the dumping.."

[Lucy Grant]

"Oh," Lucy said, scrunching up her nose in confusion. "Then... that means you wanted to be shot of her, right?"

[Bobby Bowen]

"Well, she didn't really give me a choice, seeing as she was.. with her old boyfriend when I came to see her."

[Lucy Grant]

"Awww," Lucy said sympathetically. "And you don't have an old girlfriend to go back to now that she's doing that?"

[Bobby Bowen]

"Well, I.."

Bobby thought a moment, thinking of the cat that used to hang around him, for some reason.

"No, I guess I don't."

[Lucy Grant]

"Really?" she asked, clearly having expected the answer to be different. "You don't? You?"

[Bobby Bowen]

"Not like her.. the last really serious girlfriend is back across the Atlantic. And I know she's moved on.."

[Lucy Grant]

"Oh," she said. Then she shrugged. "Foreign girls," she sighed, nodding sagely.

[Bobby Bowen]

"Well, I'm a foreign guy."

Bobby was getting to like this little bluebird.

[Lucy Grant]

"Yeah, but that gives you the 'bad boy you have to hide from mum' mystique, right?" she said, grinning. "I mean, Chloe's dating a Yank, and that goes really well! But then Jess dates a yank girl and it ends up getting me kidnapped with a giant bug ready to eat me and getting rescued by a girl instead of a cute boy like it's supposed to happen if you get a heroic superhero rescue, but noooooo I just can't win on that one, and we were talking about you, sorry, I'm hogging your angst," she said brightly.

[Bobby Bowen]

"You didn't get a superheroic rescue from a cute superhero guy? Now that is a bloody shame. I might have to help you rectify that."

Glancing down at the shots, he looked up again.

"Eh, angst is overrated. What's it got me? sitting in a dark corner of a bar for hours."

[Lucy Grant]

"You've been here for hours?" she said, giving him a weird look. "But... it's boring here! There's nothing to look at!"

[Bobby Bowen]

Bobby shrugged.

"I was in a bad place. I can't explain it."

[Lucy Grant]

"Okay, you need to have fun. Or find something good to look at," she said, that 'I'm determined!' tone coming amusingly back into her voice. "So that's what we're going to do! Hmm... need shorts though..." She started rummaging again, then looked surprised, pulling up a pair of binoculars. "Hey, maybe we can use that," she said speculatively, setting them down on the table. Then, with an 'aha!' look, she pulled out a pair of cute cutoffs, which she hopped up and started wriggling her way into.

Bobby leaned back, smirking.

"You'll have to show me that trick, Bluebird."

[Lucy Grant]

"It's in the hips," she sad as she finished pulling up her shorts. "You just kind of shake your bum a little and you can squeeze into anything. So! Do you have a car? We can go find something neat! It'll be fun!"

[Bobby Bowen]

"No car tonight, I'm afraid. Unless we walk back to my place first," he said, shrugging with a smile.

[Lucy Grant]

"Awwww... well then let's walk to your place! Silly yanks, not having your car where you can get around with it!" She grabbed his hand and started tugging him to get him to get up. "C'moooooon!"

[Bobby Bowen]

Bobby smiled, allowing the girl to pull him along.

"On, my tab, Mack!" he yelled, as he exited the premises.
