My 15th: NOW what?

Postby Narrator » Sat Jan 29, 2011 3:10 pm

A quiet day on the quad...

...until the ground beneath them began to shake, at least...

Guy was wandering campus between classes in order to get a feel for the place when he felt the ground shake.

"Already? Well... at least it wasn't on my first day."

The ground underneath Guy's feet started to slurry, turning into a bit of mud...or perhaps it could better be described as quicksand.

"Quicksand? What, is this a cheesy adventure film?"

Very slowly, he moved to get flat on the ground and crawl to safer land.

Gaius had apparently Read the Manual (tm).

But as he kept swimming towards safety, the ground he grabbed onto kept crumbling in his fingers.

"Bloody cheater you are," he scolded the ground as he kept calmly moving.

"A little help would be champion about now!"

A little help? Sure!

That's when some of the grass grew longer and wrapped itself around Guy's wrists.

"This is rubbish!"

He phased out of its grip and resumed moving.

And then a strange hissing noise came from behind, as from the ground behind him, some kind of strange....vine, or something...grew out of the ground.

Some kind of strange vine with a big mouth.

He rolled over, but now crawled backwards. "It had to be snake vines."

Seemingly put off by the bad reference, the vine opened it's mouth, and spat...a ball of fire, right towards Guy!

He phased and the flame passed through him harmlessly. In response, he conjured a wisp to hopefully distract it.

This plant wasn't gonna be fooled by a perty light, and dove in to try to take a bite out o' Guy.

He kicked at its "head" with skilled timing, but was prepared for pain.

The thing's head snapped up under the kick, and it wailed, before spitting more fire...and another one began to grow behind him.

"Bloody hell..." he said after he phased to avoid the fire.

The plants seemed to be getting annoyed with his phasing, and now were waiting right over him--he surely couldn't stay phased forever, could he?

He'd run out of breath eventually, but he had an idea. Still phased, he pulled a metallic pen from his pocket and jammed it into the "neck" of the nearest vine before instantly releasing it. Out of his power's influence it would re-materialize, and... well... two objects can't inhabit the same space.

...which caused the vine to stagger back as if shot---and then, with a sluuuuuuurpig sound, both vines retreated into the earth, and the ground beneath them solidified.

He un-phased and got up, now muddy from head to toe.
