May 5th: Library

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jezabelle was sitting in the library with a small stack of books next to her, typing notes into her laptop.

I don't understand why with the technology we have at our disposal professors still prefer outdated sources instead of the latest journals available online. She thought to herself, in her own little world.

[Narrator]

A cloud of gnats swarmed into the library through an open window, filling the room with a white, living buggy cloud of icky.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

"Ack!"

Jezabelle threw her chair back and fell under the table, trying to cover her head with her coat. She really, really didn't want to get bugs in her hair.

"What the hell's going on?!"

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria, grumbling something practically stormed into the library. "Bloody wonderful," she muttered, reaching into her purse.

[Narrator]

Once she opened her mouth, gnats flew in.

[Victoria Valentine]

Victoria coughed, spitting out the bugs as she threw a cloud of dust into the air to make a magical barrier between her and the pestilence.

[Narrator]

The gnats left Victoria alone, but they still swarmed all over the library.

[Victoria Valentine]

Grumbling, Victoria walked over to another window and threw it open, then slashed a sigil in the air in front of her. "No!" she shouted into the air in a scolding voice. "Check your bloody calendars! It's not time! No!"

[Narrator]

The gnats vanished.

[Victoria Valentine]

Wow. That worked.

"Now say you're sorry!" Victoria shouted, still scolding, deciding to press her luck a little.

[Jezabelle Sherlock]

Jezabelle's head poked out from under the desk, looking around.

"... are they gone?"
