Issue 1 Downtime

The Danger Room was reflecting a terrain you wouldn't find anywhere in the real world. Well, not anywhere outside of the Savage Land at any rate. Theresa was walking under the trees, though she'd had the room make some alterations to her appearance. Her hair and face were the same, but she had pointed ears and the room had skinned her training uniform into a dark purple and blue robe. She was wearing a long cape in similar colors and walking with a staff. Next to her loped a being out of someone's nightmares. She'd left the room totally unlocked with an invitation for people to come in and make themselves at home.

Brigid wanders in and eyes Theresa and her pet, looking a bit confused.

"...okay, I thought I knew what this was, but you've got me there," she says with a gesture to them.

"This place has only ever existed virtually," Theresa said, turning to smile at Brigid. "One of my favorite places in Warcraft."

"Ah, so this is you as... a warlock?" She tries to remember.

"More or less. Didn't have to have it redo my eyes though," she said, the glow in her eyes flaring a little. "I can have it toss a costume on you if you like. Or you can just walk with me."

"...well, at least you're not mad at Kay and I for running off, right?"

"Mad? No. Jealous as hell? Yeah."

"...well I kinda ruined it for everyone for awhile, so sorry."

"Stuff happens," she said, turning back to her walk and motioning for Brigid to follow. "Come on. There's a place I want to show you."

"Alright, let's have a look around," she says as she brightens a bit, following after Theresa.

"Kay gave me the rundown about your adventure. Sounds like you guys had fun, up until the wrath of the parents descended," she said, walking with a practiced air through the jungle, avoiding creatures that were almost as big as she was or bigger.

"Alex was pretty seriously mad too, but it was like... we didn't really plan. Like, at all."

"Yeah, that not planning thing will get you every time. How've you been doing otherwise? We haven't really had time to talk lately."

"Well I kinda... got stuck in Hell for awhile."

"Heard about that. Not so much jealous about that," she said, flicking her hand at a creature that got in their way. The creature took off running, a frightened look on its face.

"Yeah, it was... not fun. I mean, at least we got Reagan back, though I guess not everyone's happy about that."

"That surprises you? She wasn't exactly going out of her way to make friends when she was here." They seemed to be following a river now, walking along a sandy bank.

"Well, Kay seems to like her, so... yeah."

"Is there anyone Kay isn't crushing on? Besides you and me, of course." Then she realized that was out loud. "And I didn't say that and if you say I did, I'll swear you made it up."

"That was the elf ears talking," she chuckles.

"Good woman," she said with a grin as the sound of a waterfall greeted them and they got to a cliff edge. It looked like a massive sinkhole with sandy shores around the edge and multiple waterfalls spilling down the sides into a small lake. "There we go."

"Okay, see... I'd have put this closer to the door and not in the middle of a bunch of monsters."

"Then again, I guess that's pot and kettle there."

"Some of the fun is in the journey. And here I can wander around without having to deal with other yahoos on the internet."

"Yeah, you just have to deal with random yahoos like me."

"Yes, but your name is Brigid and not DruidHaxxors. And it's nice to be able to share something, you know?"

"Yeah, Mom wanted to name me DruidHaxxors, but Dad vetoed it," she smirks.

"Good for him," she said with a chuckle. "So now you've seen part of the world I like to hang out in. One of my favorite parts in fact."

"So what do you think I'd be, here?"

Theresa looked at her, tapping her cheek thoughtfully as she consider Brigid. "Knowing your love affair with your powers, not something melee-oriented. Too close to home there." She walked around Brigid, "Not big enough for Tauren. Too big for Goblin." She stopped and pulled a console down from thin air and began typing. A couple of images shimmered into being, one of a green female humanoid with a completely impractical robe made of chain and leather. The other was a anthropomorphic female panda dressed in a robe. "Taking wild guesses here, but based on what I know of you, I say these are decent possibilities."

"I don't know what the green lady is wearing, but the panda looks too cutesy."

"Eh, all the shaman armor looks like that at some point," she says. "The panda throws fire and ice. Very frightening, but you're right, probably too cutesy." More typing and the two figures disappeared. "Oooo. Idea. Since we don't have to play by faction rules..." She was typing furiously. Brigid was reskinned in a pure white robe and a shiny silver and gold staff hovered in the air in front of her. "There we go. Priest. Healer extraordinaire."

"So I'm not supposed to like warlocks, huh?"

"Eh, as long as we keep our pets in check, most don't care," she said, reading down to rub the top of her creature's head. "And we tend to be a self-policing lot anyway."

And that is when something trailing a lot of smokes whizzes past above them and goes down in the jungle on the other side of the crater somewhere with a loud crash. Following that there's a commotion of snapping branches behind them, followed by a thud as something entangled in a crude parachute hits the ground after breaking through the canopy.

"Uhm, is that... part of the program?"

"Is whos part of the whazzits?" a voice comes from inside the tangled mess. Then the fabric stops moving for a moment and with a tearing of fabric a huge sword cuts a hole into it, followed by a shock of white hair and a Gnome in full plate armor. "That's better! Who are you?"

"Not that I'm aware of," she whispered to Brigid. "I am Aladria and this is my companion Brigid. Problem with your gyrocopter?"

"Togglevolt Gearsprocket!" she says, hefting her sword over her shoulder. "Had a problem but it solved itself. By turning into a bigger problem of the smoking wreckage kind."

Brigid eyes the gnome suspiciously, but lets Theresa do the talking.

"Well, at least it wasn't Goblin made. There wouldn't be any of you left after it exploded. Where are you headed?"
