I12DT - Mental Gymnastics

Natalya had labeled the hour on the schedule as "Gymnastics (Open Room)". She'd put in a program to turn the Danger Room into a large gymnastics area with various apparatus, mostly from women's gymnastics since that's what she was familiar with, but she'd included some of the men's equipment as well. She was dressed in a gymnastics leotard, which was not a fashion most of the school was used to seeing her in. She powdered her hands with chalk as she stepped up to the uneven bars, rubbing her hands together. She stepped back, getting a short running start and bouncing off a springboard, she grabbed the higher bar and started into a simple routine that involved swapping back and forth between the bars. It seemed to go fairly well until she missed the grab during a transition to the high bar. She hit the mat flat. The safeties cushioned her fall, but the Danger Room helpfully provided the appropriate sound of her body striking the mat. "Cute," she grumbled, getting to one knee.

((Open))

"That sounded like it hurt," Steph said as she walked in, chalking up her hands.

"It didn't, but the Danger Room is trying to keep things... realistic," she smirked. "The fact that it calls extra attention to my failure is just a bonus I guess."

"How considerate of it," she smirked.

"They say the room doesn't have a personality. I disagree."

"It doesn't, but it's a computer. It takes everything literally sometimes."

"Didn't realize you were a gymnast. Is there anything you can't do, Ms. Romanov?" she smiled, offering a hand up.

"I did gymnastics when I was growing up. Kept up some of the practice. Keeps me limber for my chosen profession."

Steph nodded. "The same. Doesn't hurt that the powers have made things considerably easier. You glad to be back at the trouble magnet that is this school?"

"That's a severely loaded question these days," Natalya responded, inspecting the bars she'd been working on.

Bear trotted in, wearing a standard leotard with an x insignia.

She put down her water and towel, greeting Nat and Stephanie with a wave and smile.

Stephanie smirked, "nothing has changed since it moved from the States, I'm sure you've noticed. Hello Bear."

"Hey, Bear," Natalya said. "Yeah, nothing has really changed."

"Well, the food has changed, at least. I do miss baseball." Bear said, as she moved up to the others, beginning her stretches.

"Cricket doesn't cut it for you, eh? Agree on the food, though I almost prefer it now," she grinned.

"Well, I'm pretty much used to black and white sausages and cooked tomatoes for breakfast by now."

She smirked, chalking up her own hands.

"See, that's why I cook my own breakfasts," Natalya said, grabbing the lower bar and hauling herself up onto it.

Bear, meanwhile, vaulted onto the pommel horse, taking a seat.

"Gymnastics is universal at least. Unlike breakfast."

"I'd eat myself into the poorhouse with my appetite," she smirked, climbing up onto a balance beam and cartwheeling into the center of the beam where she wobbled slightly.

Natalya pushed herself into a handstand on the lower bar, holding it for a moment. "Whenever you want a good American breakfast, just give me warning and I'll cook you one."

"I'll definitely take you up on that," she grinned after completing several more, much better executed cartwheels.

"Note to self," she said, flipping around to the high bar, "Buy three dozen eggs."

Stephanie let out a mock offended gasp. "I'm offended. I would only eat at most two dozen eggs," she chuckled.

"The cooked, sliced tomatoes are growing on me."

Bear smiled, gripping the handles of the pommel horse, and twisting about in several directions, before beginning a leg rotation about the top.

"There's nothing wrong with cooked tomatoes, though I usually don't like them cooked by themselves. There are a few exceptions." She flipped a few more times. "Other than weird food, how're things going with you two?"

"I've been busy with the leader slot on the x-men.. I'm not certain I'm cut out for it, actually. There's no time for technical research on my arsenal.."

She pulled up on one hand, continuing to swing about the pommel horse.

Stephanie pranced across the beam lightly, spinning before she hit the end, and slowly descending into a handstand. She gingerly split her legs in the air and held the position.

"I'm just glad I finally have a fellow shifter to tutor. I feel like I have more advice to give that she actually takes seriously. I'm never sure if my power control kids are actually paying attention or are even absorbing anything," she trailed off as she righted herself.

"Not that I can blame them I guess. I think non-ferals can probably smell the hormones in the room."

"They always seem to absorb the stuff you don't want them too."

"Do you like the mentoring aspect? " bear asked, curious.
