I13DT - Debugging ((open))

The site of the recently restored Braddock Lighthouse. Aircraft hangars and other X-Men facilities, including a Cerebra unit and the Danger Room have been constructed around the foundations of the lighthouse.

The files all moved over, at their original sizes!

Well, ALMOST all. Will.wil seemed about half as large, filesize-wise.

"How strange." she wonders and tries to make another copy while running various check-sum analyses and whatnot on the first copy.

The next copy was even smaller still, and check-sum analysis showed that the file was running less efficiently, though all the data seemed to still be there.

She starts the second Will.wil file in another window and frowns at the two Will's disapprovingly. "I told you that human brains make no sense."

She does some Photoshop magic to blend the sun into the image and make it look like it's in the sky and not just right there.

"The laws of physics weep at your existence." she points out. Apparently she's been going through some of Will's shifting folder.

"I am a computer." she helpfully reminds him. She then deletes the copied Will and moves the entire contents of the USB drive into the terminal. "I need to try something."

She then activates the protocols she uses for interfacing with her own chassis to see if the now-empty USB drive responds in any way.

The USB drive was empty, and ready to store whatever ASHLIE would like to put on it....it seemed fairly simple enough.

"This needs more components." she decides and pulls up some information from the 'Shifting' folder to see if she can turn it back into a person shape and add the necessary components to remote control it like her usual chassis.

There was nothing in the files nearly complex enough for a remote control, but shifting it back to a person didn't seem too hard--heck, if she went with the standard Will template, it almost looked drag-and-drop. Very user friendly.

And so she does, though she adds an USB port in the back of his neck. And then she tries to send signal to walk around, though they're derived from her robot-steering protocols.

Will's body stood there, and then flopped to the ground with a thud, legs and arms moving sporadically.

"What's going on out there?" Will said somehow pressing his nose against the inside of the computer monitor.

The closest thing ASHLIE found to a "programming language", as it were, seemed to be a hybrid between Whenever, Ook, and Malboge. Suffice it to say, anything complex would take even ASHLIE a long time to figure out, though it's far from impossible. It's simply not trivial. Considering even a 'normal' human has hundreds upon hundreds of different muscles, and that Will is capable of both a finer level and wider range of movement and effects on even the molecular level, there were a lot of variables to take into account.

Trial and error might be the order of the day. That, and possibly simplification.

"What a mess." she notes and decides to just go with a trail and error approach until she has enough data to make some sense of it.

~Several hours later~

Quite a few things had been knocked over and smashed, and "Will" had spent a lot of time tripping over things and sprawling across the floor, but ASHLIE had a simplified, robotic, almost tin-soldier like movement down. Anything more than that would probably require specific programming written for just that occasion.

At some point, "Will" had bumped into the monitor, turning it off, meaning Will couldn't see what was going on.

By removing some "unnecessary" muscles and organs, ASHLIE would find Will significantly easier to control, though he looked more and more like the Pillsbury Dough Boy the more she simplified.
