I12DT - Getting into Shape

[Janice Gilbertson]

"...there's two of you."

[Will Stanton]

"That sounds about right."

"One...two...yeah, that checks out."

[Janice Gilbertson]

She sighed.

"I'm reasonably certain that she'd prefer there be only one of you."

[Will Stanton]

"Well, with two we could always..."

Will2 hit him.

"Shut up!"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Yeeeeah, I don't see her going for that."

[Will Stanton]

"No, she IS pretty boring."

"SHE never made a cake."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"She's gonna freak out, isn't she?"

[Will Stanton]

"We can fix this! It can be our secret!"

"I'm not hurt or anything, so we just need to think! Two heads are better than one, yes?"

"What would Captain Britain do in this situation?"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"You're... not exactly a giant supervillain in need of punching."

[Will Stanton]

"Would it helped if I cackled maniacally?

"Oh, I know! I know!" Will2 said, beginning to grow larger -- slower than Will normally did, if Janice was in the right frame of mind to notice. "'Giant' we can do!"

[Janice Gilbertson]

Janice facepalmed, sighing.

"...that wasn't a suggestion."

[Will Stanton]

"...I knew that. I was....testing you."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I guess we could try something with a force field... stand close together."

[Will Stanton]

"Right-o..." Will said, standing up right next to Will. "This close enough, or should we hug or something?"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Just needed to get you both inside," she said as she used the console to create a force bubble around them.

"Don't worry. It's about to get... cozy."

She set the force bubble to contract, centimeter by centimeter.

[Will Stanton]

"Woah! This is kinda cool."

"How much force can you get behind one of these things? We should probably put that in our notes..."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"It's just the Danger Room itself. No sense suiting up if I don't have to, yeah? We can check the readouts when you're back together."

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, of course."

"Getting...a little cozy in here..." Will added in, as the amount of space in the bubble contracted more, forcing them yet closer together, their bodies curving and bending in interesting ways as the volume approached exactly 2-Wills.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Let's hope the obvious happens when the squeeze is really on, eh?"

[Will Stanton]

"This is fun! This is exciting. Experimmmmm!"

Presumably, Will meant to say 'experiments', but the volume had reached 2*Will, and was still contracting, causing the Wills to be pushed together, at first just smearing mint frosting, and then forcing body parts to seamlessly merge together into a more formless mass.

And STILL the contraction continued, as the identifiable body parts began to fade in number, the line where Will1 started and Will2 ended becoming less and less visible.

Janice winced as she watched, and finally released it when it looked, at least to her eyes, that there was one Will-mass.

[Will Stanton]

The ball of Will thumped down onto the ground, and paused a minute before reshaping itself into one, normal Will...or, at least, one chocolaty-minty Will.

"Whew. What a rush..."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"...oh, thank God."

"I wasn't sure if that was going to work."

[Will Stanton]

"It seems to have..." Will said, shaking his arms experimentally. "That was good, quick thinking."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"It was just... squishing you together."

[Will Stanton]

"And it worked! Very...

That was odd. The cake was more enjoyable, but I wouldn't call that one painfu or anything -- but it was like there's a...fog in my memory or something."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Well, two heads didn't quite seem better than one..."

[Will Stanton]

"That's...confusing. I might have to talk to someone about that..."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I don't know. You just seemed... more than a little harebrained."

[Will Stanton]

Will considered that for a moment.

"I'll choose NOT to illustrate that one with a handy shift."

[Will Stanton]

Will's pager beeped.

"Ah hell, I've got a security debriefing. I totally lost track of time in there -- Janice, I'm going to have to cut this short; we'll totally have to pick this up soon. I had a blast -- this was fantastic, and intriguing, and informative, and everything in between. You're amazing. We'll continue shortly."

Will headed for the door, but stopped, and gave Janice a quick peck on the cheek. He then hurried out the door.
