Nina smacks another shot glass on the bar. She was happily doing her best to get completely drunk.

For science. Of course.

Anika walks into the bar with a huff, taking off her leather jacket and shaking it off a bit. She had a split lip and a smirk on her face. Apparently it was a good day. Striding over to the bar, she slips into a seat near Nina and waves the bartender over.

"Whiskey. One rock if you could." As the bartender goes to do their thing, she leans back on the chair and sighs. "What a day."

"It has definitely been a series of hours confined into one 24-hour period," Nina agrees, tipping back another shot.

Anika looks over at her and raises a brow, but thinks better of it. She must be plastered. Once her drink arrives, Anika thanks the bartender. "Just keep an open tab for me." Pulling the single ice cube out, she rested it on her lip. It took about twenty seconds before the ice cube was completely melted. Regardless, it did what Anika needed it to.

"The ice cube," Nina says. "It seems as if it would be inefficient for the purpose of getting water into your body. Does it serve a ritualistic purpose?"

Anika blinks at her a few times. Okay maybe she's high. She points to her split lip. "Ice helps swelling. If I need to get water into my body, I'll drink it." Nina seemed to confuse her a bit, but at the same time, she looked a bit amused.

"Oh, I didn't even notice your lip. That was dumb of me," Nina says. "Would you like me to fix it?"

"Uh...if you're going to say 'I can kiss it and make it feel better', I think I'll have to pass. At least for now. Maybe in about three drinks? Give or take?"

Nina giggles, "No. As fun as that might be, I'm trying to avoid any sexual entanglements for the time being. They tend to end poorly for me. And other people."

"I'm a healer. And a -- well, I guess I'm not a real doctor. More of an enthusiastic and experienced amateur."

"Sexual entanglements..." She laughed. "That's a beautiful way of putting it. I like it. So you're without a license then. I don't mean this to sound the way it's going to come out, but if you're only freelance is it really a good idea to offer help to someone? What if you accidentally muck up and hurt them?"

Anika watched Nina for a few moments before answering. "Are you on drugs? Because if you are, it's really not safe to be out in public. Can get you into a lot of trouble that way. Too many bad people out there." Apparently she didn't get the whole Nina was a mutant thing.

Nina giggles, "You're sweet, but no. I'm not on any drugs."

"Although if you would like some, I have been working on a powerful hallucinogen," Nina says.

Anika stares at Nina, confusion written all over her face. "I uh...don't think that's pretty smart to go talking about how you're a drug manufacturer. You sure you're not high?" She looks Nina over a bit, not believing in the slightest that she's coherent.

"Sure, I'm sure," Nina says. "I think. I usually remember taking drugs."

"Unless it's a lot of drugs."

Nina looks thoughtful for a moment.

"Anyway! Enough about me. How did you acquire your abrasions and contusions?

Anika couldn't help but smirk at Nina's personality. It was amusing and refreshing at the same time. Something different and entertaining about it. "Just a little scuffle with a few guys who don't like winning at arm wrestling. Not a big deal."

"They were probably insecure. I've been told that often times that sort of behavior is the result of a fragile masculine ego," Nina says. "Here. Let me see your lip."

She reaches out to lift up Anika's chin, taking a careful look at the cut.

Anika stares at her, unsure whether to move her hand away or to just let the (as she believes it) mentally unstable girl do what made her happy. It wasn't too bad. Didn't need stitches, but it was going to swell nice. And Anika didn't seem to care one bit.

"It's not so bad. Must've stung a little bit," Nina says, examining it with a very professional -- if still quite bubbly -- demeanor. "I could fix it easy-peasy with my powers, but as an unlicensed medical practitioner I would need your permission first."

"Why would it be a problem?" Nina asks. She sends microscopic probes into the cut to relieve the swelling and reduce any discomfort. It would feel like a slight tingling sensation. Odd, but not uncomfortable.

She puts a hand to her lip and gives an impressed nod. "Because not everyone is so keen on mutants. Thanks. You need a drink?"

Anika downs her glass of whiskey and motions for the bartender to pour the both of them more. "Nice to meet ya. Name's Anika Sloan. Don't take this the wrong way, but you're strange. In a cool way."
