Issue 1 Downtime

"Bloody tossers, ye'd think I never did anything for them," Connor muttered, having just gotten done with the rather cool reception his return had garnered him from the previous shift and the manager. "Ah well. Back where I bloody belong, at least."

Cecil was sitting at the bar sipping on a beer.

"Giving you grief about being gone during..." he paused a second "the incident?"

"Well, couldn't really say 'well sorry, guv, but past week I was a hot little dish with curves out ta here,' so the poor bugger think I had a few days on the lam or was sick or some other rubbish," Connor admitted, picking up a glass to dry.

"Yeah, it would be kind of hard to explain. I'll never see what the big deal about getting sick is though, it happens to everyone."

"Well, it was a bloody whole week," Connor pointed out. "Funny thing is, I've seen blokes out longer than that fer bein' arrested an' it doesn't get as much hassle for 'em."

"They want you to come to work sick, because in their minds, you can. If you do and get other people sick, they then tell you that you should have stayed home."

"Can't get people sick here. Too much alcohol. Sterilizes it, yanno?" Connor joked.

"Sadly, at most of the places I worked, drinking at work wasn't an option." He grinned.

"An' that's why I decided to be a bartender, mate," Connor shot back with a grin.

"That certainly is a benefit, I still think I'd prefer to stay on the other side of the bar."

Connor shrugged. "Everyone's got a calling. Worse things than running a pub. Lot better things to, though, I s'pose."

"I guess this place isn't too bad. You couldn't possibly pay me enough to work in some of the bars I used to frequent though."
